did the pre-op or post op diet give you any bathroom problems?

Recommended Posts

All that liquid, just wondering if it caused problems for folks, ie "the runs". I have to work! Can't be running to the bathroom every 10 minutes. I doubt after the surgery running anywhere will be easy.

It's not 100% true about liquid in liquid out. Think about babies only on formula. You shouldn't be running to the bathroom. Perhaps call your doctor and discuss.

Only in post op and not eating like I use to before lapband did I have bowel movement problems. Fiber gummies and Miralex solved this problem. If you're on pain killers for the surgery and you take them a long time you could have movement problems as well.

call me bathroom queen sweetheart :)

my dr okay'd me immodium AD and that helped

but he also advised me to do a daily probiotic (capsule i open and still put in my morning Protein shake) to help ((calm things down))..

i started that 4 days post op and on day 5 to 6, it seemed better...who knows it may help you but confer with your dr just in case as they may not want you to do that or the immodium

...and because fluids in and fluids are coming out, def important to say hydrated.....sip sip sip and then sip some more...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
