Do anyone regret getting banded and if so why? I've been having these terrible dreams lately and I'm beginning to get extremely nervous.

When are to get yours, and don't be getting nervous, I love my band, I did well until I seen that I was 25 lbs from my goal, as long as you stick with your band and fall off, you will do fine, just stick with the program and you will lose great.

I don't Regret getting my band at all. I spent a lifetime of losing and gaining weight and I needed a permanant solution. I found that in the band. I am maintaining now and it's doing it's job!

My only caution is with the band you must do 30% of the work by making good food choices and watching your calories in the losing stage. The band will do the rest once restricted but before that... It's sheer willpower. You must be ready to give up a lot to get to your goal. If you are willing to do that and change your lifestyle and follow your drs orders...this might be a great choice for you.

Best of luck!

No regrets here but I remember feeling nervous and anxious leading up to the op. when they were wheeling me to the operating theatre I wanted to jump off the bed and run I was so scared of what I was going to do to myself.

Once I started healing and feeling better and losing weight I knew I had made the right choice and wish I had done it sooner.

You're going to go through many emotions after being banded also and I think that's also normal, it's a big change to how we used to be. It's not only a physical change but very much a mental adjustment also. The times I'd get down I'd go to the before and after section of the forum and see all the success stories and I'd say I can do this, I want to be a success too.

It's a new way of living and it's going to be tough at certain stages but once you get to where you need to be with fills and you've added in some exercise you will feel fantastic.

I fell the same fear. I think it really helped with the soul searching I needed to do. You would not be taming it seriously if u did not feel this fear it's the biggest & best decision I ever made!!! Good luck and search deeply

It is such a personal decision. I made a list of pros and cons before surgery. For me, there were so many reasons to take the leap. I love, love, love my band!

I'm at the beginning of my journey & already love it. it hasn't really been so tough for me, thank god. but i too felt the way you did. now, my only regret was i should have done it sooner! as long as you follow dr's orders you should be fine. one thing i do know, only do it if your ready, i remember being in the prep room & thinking what am i doing, next thing i knew they gave me something to relax and i woke up in recovery with the Dr talking to me.... my 1st night I'm glad they kept me for observation cuz if i needed help they were awesome with even the little stuff like fluffing my pillows & ice chips and pain meds.... i wish you luck with whatever you decide, good luck and god bless ~_~

I love my band but Ive been challenging it alot. My only worries is it slipping ..i have irrational fears that it already has slipped. Thats my only issue. Oh and now my hair is shedding which is normal..but still scary. Ive lost 45lbs since sept 15th. And I had 3 to 5 weeks where my wt didnt change..

I love my band. It is a great and effective tool. Now if i just do what i am suppose to do. It would be even better. I don't regret my decision. Holiday food was too tempting...

just make sure you are VERY informed and educated; research Bandster HE** and how to deal with obstacles like Hair loss and constiplation; it is a VERY personal decision and it is NOT the "easy way out" . . . lots of hard work, dedication, will power and committment required

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
