Hi all,

Perry the weight loss no one can really say it is up to your body and you!

Some people loss 30 pounds in a year some lose a lot more.

I am 18 months post op. The majority of my weight I lost in the begining. A lot of what goes on with WLS is that your head has to be ready. That is the hardest part. My head is ready some days and other days it isn't. I have learned over the past 18months to make healthy choice but it sure doesn't happen all the time.

I didn't want to lose my post.

The band is the best thing I ever did for my self. It isn't always easy I do have days sometimes weeks where I go back to my old ways, but it is always there to remind me that I want to be thin and healthy.

This picture is me the night before my band then 1 year later and now at 18 months. Please feel feel to PM me anytime to discuss the band. Hope this helps and welcome!

Hi....My name is Trudy and I live in a small town on the coast of North Carolina. I had been heavy for most of my adult life. I have been as high as 300 pds. I started my lapband journey at 227 and now I am at 149. I was banded on August 7, 2006 and have lost right at 80 pds. I have never been so pleased in all my life. It has been a struggle at times, but certainly well worth it. I would do it all over again in a second!

Hey Trudy...Ok, I am officially asking you to be my lap band support captian! I am very new to this whole lap band idea and have about a million and one questions. It would be super nice to have one person I could communicate with and bounce thought and ideas off of. Here is a little bit about me...I live in Charleston, SC (no one in SC ever posts on the SC forum it seems, so I adopted NC as my next choice). I am 30 years old, 5 foot 3 inches tall and 225. I am scheduled for my first "informational seminar" at MUSC on May 15. What I am most curious about at this point is if anyone has heard anything about MUSC's programs, doctors, etc.? Also, what is considered a "reasonable" weight loss the first few months after surgery. My ultimate goal is 150. Am I just wishful thinking or can that ever really be a reality for me?????

I will help you in any way possible. It is not wishful thinking. I am 5'3 and started at 227. I had met my goal within 6 months. I know you can do it. So feel free to ask me anything you like. You can also reach me at babbles@ec.rr.com. I also use yahoo messenger alot....babbles284 on there. Good Luck!

Welcome to the land of the banded. :Banane43:

I am not out here much but my 2 year band birthday is coming up. WOW 2 years where does the time go.

Dianne I hadn't seen the last picture. Did you post it on the other board? You know me I don't venture out much from there anymore. (No time)

Well I just wanted to stop in and welcome everyone and hope to meet up soon. We are planning a "lap-band" family picnic in June. If you are interested let me know and once the details our our there for sure I will update you. It will be in the Charlotte/Concord area.

Hi everyone,

Newbie here, I am seriously thinking about having this surgery. I live in the Asheville area and I saw a pp post that Mission has some silly requirements. Do you guys mind telling me what they are? It really isn't possible for me to travel any distance to have this surgery. I have 5 kiddos to tkae care of at home.

TIA

When I went there (March 2006) they told me that you had to lose 5% of your body fat before you can even meet with a surgeon. Recently I heard ( I am not sure if it is true) that you had to lose 40lbs before you could have the surgery which doesn't make sense. If it was that easy to lose that much weight on your own, why would someone consider surgery?

The seminar should help give you a better overview of everything.

Good luck.

Let me know if you have any questions. I haven't been on here as much as I used to so you can always PM me.

Hey Brit - Welcome!

I know Dr Voellinger in Charlotte has a lap-band seminar once a month. June's will be June 25th. I know it's a little drive for you but it's well worth it. :)

Good Luck and there is nothing like being pre-pared early.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
