How do you know if you slip?

Recommended Posts

What happens when you know you've eaten too much? How do you know if your band slips? Anybody been though that kind of stuff? I'm just at a month out, and it's hard learning how to eat, especially in a restaurant setting. Ugh.

Oh well no vomiting here... Yet! Sometimes there is some discomfort but I think it's because I've eaten too much. My first fill isn't until the 21st so I'm hoping I'm doing am good and on the right track! Down 25 pounds since surgery.

Good luck to y'all!

I don't know what it feels like when you're band slips, and I hope I never do!

However, being almost 4 months out, I have had the pleasure of getting that darn chest pain following by "the slimy feeling." After doing a lot of reading, I believe my problem was that I didn't eat small enough pieces and/or chew slowly enough. It's a horrible feeling! Sadly, I've had it several times. I'm guessing I"m a slow learner.

It's hard to change your ways after 47 years. It takes time, but you can do it.

I'm so with you her. I've had three full now on 6 out if 10. My last fill was only half a mil but boy what a difference and totally made me realise what I thought was good chewing is soooo not. I had the frothing a spit up (not vomit) until it came back up. Horrid. But I chew chew chew now and it's ok. Weirdly I tolerate crispier hard food better than soft now. - strange! X

I am sitting in the hospital. Band slipped sometime about 10 to 12 days ago . Doc removed all fill that did not help. Funny have not lost any weight over a week yet have not eaten much if anything at all. Yesterday went in for endoscooy doc saw a slip so spent night in hosp. Surgery 1pm today. I am not sure how to regulate hunger, volume to eat. Would I do this again. Only time will tell

Congratulations Liz. The doctor can scan you and will know if the band has slipped.

Best wishes

Oh that's all great advice. I haven't thought it happened, but I'm always curious about things like that just to make sure. I think when I get my first fill I'm going to ask if we can do it where I can see, just to make sure everything is where it's supposed to be!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
