Before and after a fill. . .

Recommended Posts

I remember reading somewhere in my doctor's office about a diet to be on before a fill. I knew I should have picked up the paper, but I didn't. . . now I can't really remember what it said. Are any of you on any special diets before and after a fill? if so, what was it? Today is Saturday so I can't really call my doctor's office for advice when my fill appointment is on Monday morning! :-)

I know the Bandit B****es are going to really get me. . . but I love their advice and I'm ready for it! Lol

Same here as wildrose, nothing for 2 hours before a fill, but I have to go through all of the steps like before surgery after the fill for 24 hours each (liquids, mushies, soft, regular).

My office says nothing to eat or drink 2 hours before appointment, and no bread, meat, or Pasta for 24 hours afterwards. Hope this helps you out!

I just keep it soft food just to get the feel of it, if any. Its never been a big deal I can feel some pressure in my chest (right where the band is) for 2 days and don't do bread or Pasta.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
