I was wrapped in a blanket rocking back and forth like a drug addict from a bad 70's movie for the first 3 days but then it gets better. Hang on DO IT EXACTLY! This will give you some relief in 3-4 days. The reality is you are likely coming off sugar and carbs and it makes us agitated (my skin crawled) plus the mental anxiety of the finality of surgery and your new life.

Many people have found that past the first 3-4 days it not only gets better but you get a kind if mental freedom - not having to think about food all the time. I just viewed the liquid diet like taking meds - set my timer took it ( drank shake) when it went off and moved on.

If you are wondering ... Yes it's worth it. I have lost over 250 lbs and changed my life.

Hope in your future is power in your present !

Lee

Lee, you are freakin amazing!

Thanks for all the encouragement! I belong to a private fb group at St. Agnes in Baltimore, but it is for all wls patients. I believe band takes more determination, just my opinion. I realize that with all wls u can gain back the weight by making poor choices. My life will no longer look the same, i'm ready... Still nervous, but ready. Thanks for the stories of Ur journeys, keep them coming!!

MiniMi... Not really but thanks : ) a big part of the key for me is understanding that its not about doing the extraordinary it's about doing the ORDINARY daily ! 30 Seconds to Victory works.

Have a Victorious weekend !

Absolutely! The first 3 days of pre-op diet SUCKED! After that it was much easier to maintain... food is an addiction, and I went through withdrawal symptoms from a radical diet change. I was banded Nov 13 and am down 30+ lbs, I wouldn't change a thing!

Thing that helped me most was learning! I read the bandwagon by Jean McMillan.

I also really got involved with this site. I read the posts from the people who were successful, copied their road to thin.

we all worry before our surgery but, we all get through it. keep posting and reading, good luck.

we like to help on this forum, really!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
