Worried That I Will Never See The Difference

I am starting to worry that no matter how much I lose, I will not be able to look in the mirror and see a difference. I am down 47 lbs since August 7th. I am down from a size 26 to a size 20 in jeans. I just put these two photos together, the left is from 2010 and the right from 2 weeks ago. Everyone else sees a change. However, when I look at it, I look the same in both. Is this normal.....not being able to see what others see?

  • I do it all the time. On my avatar the black dress was 205. The green top was 377. On my profile is a pic of 162.... And I still have a hard time seeing the difference. I think it's pretty normal

  • Yep, I am afraid so. It takes the brain a while to catch up. I was almost a year out from surgery, down 7 sizes before I saw me in the mirror and said, gee... I am thinner. Note the thought was not

First, I can see a HUGE difference. You look great!! And yes, it's very normal. I've lost almost 170 pounds and I still look at myself and think "ugh I swear I'm going to be fat forever". Everyon

U Go Girl!!!! I can see the difference in your pictures.

It's normal cause at times I feel the same way. I went from a size 20 & now a size 10. I still feel big at times until I look back at old pictures. You look great!!! Keep up the good work. Banded 12/22/10.

I see a huge difference, you're looking great!

Yesterday I bought a top in large in a normal clothing store, I didn't try it on as in my head I still felt I was too big for those sizes and it was reduced from $40 to $5 so too good of a bargain to pass up for when it would fit, tried it on when I got home and it's huge on me. I just kept looking in the mirror with the biggest goofiest grin on my face. Go try on smaller clothes as the others have said and even though your brain won't cooperate the smaller sizes will be proof as to how far you have come.

What a difference!! You look fabulous!! I understand what it's like to not see a difference in the mirror, we all do. I have been banded since July, I started being a size 26, now I fit comfortably in an 18. I still see the "fat girl" when I look in the mirror!! Trust me, I see the difference in your pictures!

Thank you all so much. Unfortunately' date=' hubby lost his job and finances are soooo bad right now. I can't even go buy a new shirt right now. I am stuck with what I have to work with right now. I don't even know HOW to buy clothes that aren't big or baggy. I have always hid behind baggy clothes. :([/quote']

Man, I know how hard that is. I'm sorry! Here's a thought though, why don't you grab the clothes off of those girls next to you in the profile pic. Have a yard sale of your bigger clothes or hold your own clothing exchange locally.

You are doing amazing! Keep up the good work!

I for sure see a difference! Congrats!

I have an opposite problem...as someone that has been thing, I forget day to day what I look like now (top weight) until I see a picture of myself and then I'm like WTF....oh yeah....

I am still waiting for my *** approval but can't wait to be in your shoes...keep it up, girl!!

Thank you all for the words of encouragement! I just might make a stop at the store and try some new things on!

Check out your local Salvation Army. Much less expensive way to get at least a few things that fit.

I know it's hard when you don't see the weight loss, but boy, we all sure can!!!

Just a note, keep one pair of your pre-surgery pants. I pull mine out when I'm feeling like I need a boost.

It may be a better visual for you than the mirror!

You should be very proud of yourself! Keep it up!
