My surgery was on Oct 25, surgery weight 274.2. At 14 days post op my weight was 262.6, end of my full liquid diet. Then I started the mushy stage. I am now 17 days post surgery, current weight 265.6. I am 8.6 pounds down. I need help with my weigh loss? Why did I gain weight?

From my experience there isn't a lot of salt In liquids...it's possible that your mushie foods have more salt and you are retaining water.. It may also be that you are getting more calories with Mushies and your body is storing the calories. This is the time to start a good habit of tracking your calories. If you stay between 1000-1200 ( or whatever your dr told you) for a day and stick with the proper portions you should be fine.

I agree, watch the salt and start walking! Pay close attention to the mushies. Some things that go down well are are all that good for you. Try logging your food.< /p>

the first 4-6 wks is a healing time and not really a weight loss time ( althought its feels great to loos that soon) we all float up and down 5 or so lbs every day that's why you weight on the same sacale and the same time always to get the right weight loss figure.....I know you want to loss but you have and more is coming be patient boy do we all know how hard this is in the beginning......line dancerr

The first 4-6 weeks it is normal not to lose or even gain. Please, please focus on healing not losing right now. Your body is going through a huge adjustment.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
