Recommended Posts

I am just curious as to exactly how many of you were able to lose your weight. Can you give us some exact information as to how you did it?

I have lost 160 pounds in 10 months.

I saw a nutritionist and together we came up with guidelines that fit into my lifestyle.

I have tracked calories religiously since the day I got home from the hospital.

I never eat more than a cup of food per meal.

For me, it's worked. It's not at all hard but does take commitment to change.

I was in the 50ish zone for weight loss when I started having complications. Now I'm just in the 40ish zone and hoping I don't gain any more before my revision surgery!!

That's amazing! Congrats! I had surgery 10/17 and I've lost 24lbs pre op and post op... But since Friday my scale has not moved... At all... Not even the ounces ... My first fill is Friday I am hoping this will fix the situation ... Oh and I'm still eating correctly just more than before ... Any thoughts or suggestions???

Not everyone likes counting calories, but it's the easiest way to know you're truly eating the right things. If you're not already, I'd consider it.

Also, I know it's hard, but stick to a cup or less of food per meal regardless of whether or not you can or want more.

Finally, remember the first 4-6 weeks post surgery are for healing not losing. Concentrate on healing and getting past all the post op stuff then worry about weight loss. It'll come in time.

Best wishes.

I'd make an appointment with an nutritionist. The doctor's offices are vague at best, but a nutritionist will sit down and actually teach you. I attribute a huge part of success with the information I learned from the nutritionist.

Banded on October 19th. I was 258 when I started the pre op diet and am down to 239 now. Lost 10 lbs since surgery the rest was on pre op. I have lost a total of 33 lbs since Christmas when I weighed 272.

Please avoid the mistakes I made by having high expectations. I lost a ton of weight out of the gate and stalled out. Reason I lost the weight was bc I was eating right, I was eating to protect my post op tummy. Then, when I couldnt feel restriction - all the rules and seminar guidelines went out the window. Finally with my 4th fill - I have that elusive restriction that everyone talks about. If I DON'T eat slow, it feels like a tree branch going down sideways. I have to avoid the slider foods now and get on track. Enough about me - good luck to you.

Very simple actually....

I didn't cheat on my pre op or post op diet

I counted calories and tracked everything I ate starting when I went on mushies

I drank 8 cups of Water every day

I ate 1000 calories per day for 23 months

3/4 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c starch at every meal... About 300 each calories for Bfast, lunch and dinner...

I limited 2 Snacks per day to fruit and a treat not more than 50 or so calories

I took my Gummy Vitamins

I visited my dr monthly and got fills when the above food didn't keep me full for at least 4/5 hrs at a time

In a nutshell I followed my dr's orders and made up my mind this would work for me!

I am with mis73. I see my NUT every time I o to the dr. The dr never gave me a Calorie count. I just followed the instructions and logged my food. I talked to the NUT each time and wentover it with her. She told me how to adjust it. I started out at 750 calories then when she told me to drop the liquid Protein it went down to 500-600. Only eating when hungry, two 1 cup meals and 2 small Snacks. One fill at six weeks and that is it. Exercise every day.

Down 129 pounds in 10.5 months. Find what combination work for you, but don't do it on your on. Talk to your NUT.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
