Anyone Had To Go To An Endocrinologist As Part Of Pre-Op?

I met with my surgeon today (& my internal medicine dr) and he wants me to see an endocrinologist to check my hormone levels. I tried for 2 yrs to get my old IM doctor to refer me and he wouldn't.

My surgeon and IIM. Doctor want me to have the bypass, but I told them NO!! I live in Europe and most doctors here favor the by-pass over the band. But they are willing to support my decision.
