Wisconsin: Where are you??

Hi Girls, I'm from Wi too. Live in Baraboo which is near the Dells. I guess that's way too far for coffee. It's nice to "talk" to you though.

I live in Eau Claire, will have surgery at UW-Madison, Health, after I get through the psych eval and nutritionist meetings. How many days were you off work, or needed help at home, after your LAP-BAND procedure?

THANKS!

Hi All. I'm from Sheboygan. Got my band in Mexico, but I've been going to Dr. Chua's group for fills. I'd lke to meet others and chat sometime although I have to say that this site has been really helpful and supportive.

I am from west of Manitowoc. I am still working with insurance, doctor letters, etc in hopes of being approved soon. Then, I will be a bandster as well!! Can't wait!. I am working with Dr. Kemmerling from Green Bay. He and his staff are great to work with and very understanding.

Hope you get approved soon, Shadow! That was such a relief when I got that letter! Now, a few more hurdles, and I will be a Bandster! :crying:

Congratulations on your expected surgery date. This is an exciting and nervous time for you. I'm sure all will go well. I had my surgery in 6/2004and I'm still working on reaching my goal. It is a long journey that works on your body, spirit, and mind. We're all here for you with questions.

Hello there fellow Wisconsinites!! I am new to this site and considering getting banded in Mexico because my insurance doesn't cover anything...... and we all know how expensive it can be for self pay. What I'm wondering is if any of you know of places in Wisconsin that will fill clients banded in another country. How much does Dr. Chuas group charge for fills? Thanks so much for the info::thumbup:

Hey all! Nice to see some fellow wisconsinites on here! I'm Crystal, I live in the franklin/muskego area (south west of milwaukee), and I was banded by Dr. Zane Prewitt in Men. Falls. Great surgeon and group. Nice to meet you all.

Wow.. Wisconsin just isn't well represented on this site. I am getting banded this summer sometime and am going through the Froedtert program. So far I am very happy with it. I was hoping to be able to find some local buddies on this site to meet up with. I am so curious to know what it's truly going to be like after surgery. I want to go out for lunch with someone who's had the surgery to see how eating will change. What things are off limits and what a true lunch looks like in size.

I'm also afraid of the skin issue once my goal has been met. I'm looking to lose 100# on my 5'7" frame and am 37 years old.

Hey! Another Wisconsonite here!! I am being banded on Monday 5/3 by Dr. Prewitt at Community Memorial. I am so excited and nervous too! Hope we can stir up this forum again to continue to lend support to fellow cheeseheads!

Fun Tracy - I work at Froedtert but don't know much about their Lapband. Are you having Dr. Wallace do it? I have met him and worked with him several time and see a lot of his by-pass patients. He's a very nice person. Good luck and keep me posted!

GracesMom... Wow, today was your big day. Hopefully you'll be up and about writing about your surgery. I SO want to know how it went!

Yes, Dr. Wallace is my surgeon.

Hello All,

I'm Gayla from Neenah. I'm just starting this journey. I've been to a seminar at Midwest Bariatrics in Neenah with Dr Georgen and Dr Wasco. I have an appointment with my PCP in two weeks to get started on the pre-approval diet thing. Has anyone here had surgery at with this group?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
