Unfilled My Band Today.....

Got my band unfilled today....it has helped me lose a lot of weight but over this past year I have slowly been putting weight back on. I have battled with reflux now for 2 of the 3 years. Had a perfectly healthy galbladder removed because they thought it was causing the reflux. I finally decided that the band was no longer helping me. So now I have to re-lose the 20lbs that I have gained back. And figure out how to do it without the band. I am over it. Over dealing with throwing up and reflux and still not losing. I really just wish that I would have had the gastric bypass!

Maybe the reflux was caused by a too tight band. Although we think that the tighter the better it doesn't work like that - tight bands mean you cannot eat healthy, satisfying foods so you start eating high cal, unsatisfying sliders and gain weight.

Maybe you should look at having your band refilled slowly, it may still be able to help.

If not then I am sure you can revise to a bypass or a sleeve if that is really what you want to do.

I am having same problem and it is not because my band was too tight. My stomach shifted up above the band. They took all the fluid out and I had to wait 8 weeks to let my stomach go back down. When I went back in to start the refill I did not see my regular doctor and this doctor decided I need to have an EGD before refilling my band. He is also telling me that I may have to have surgery to fix it. I had to get an approval from our insurance and wait for a date for the EGD. I am scheduled to have it next Wednesday. It's will be almost 3 months since they took fluid out and I have gained about 15 pounds. I don't want the sleeve or bypass. I have been a success story with the band. I just want my band back and working like it did before all this started. I am very discouraged :(

That is known as a slip. Did the Dr give you a reason for it having slipped?

They didn't give any reasons. I have been so careful to follow the rules and I can't figure out what I did. They said it's just something that happens sometimes.
