Hi Lapband Fam! Nervous Girl Here...

Recommended Posts

Ok... I'm so happy I found this on the web, it's nice to read issues that others have shared or are dealing with. I am scheduled for surgery 10/23 and I am a big ball of nerves! Honestly, I don't think it's the surgery that has me nervous but the AFTER that has me scared. I've had a few negative people in my ear telling me how this doesn't work and I was wasting my time/money/health, but I refuse to believe that... especially after seeing so many success stories!

This posting was me introducing myself to my newly found Lapband family! I hope you guys will keep me in prayer and please, PLEASE send me any advice or tips you may have. I am the first person in my circle of family and friends to have the lapband so I do not have anyone who can relate to my fears, stress, or accomplishments. :D

Steffy,

I have been banded for 4 days now. I don't have a lot of experience but from what I have gleaned I can tell you that it is a very REAL tool that becomes very REAL when you wake up from surgery. You are getting the band because you need that extra accountability that diets alone do not offer.

Having said that your only concern needs to be your health. The weight will come off itself. I already had more than my share of fat foods and sugars and lord know my share of pizza! Now I am going to be that heathy person who loves herself and doesn't abuse her own body any more.

Keep me posted!

Welcome!! I am glad that you have done your homework and research on the band and are not letting others influence your decision (especially when they do not have firsthand experience).

There will be challenges and it is a tool, not a magic button in aiding in weight loss. If you follow the rules and guidelines you can be very successful. :)

Best wishes.

Nothing taste as good as skinny feels................great motto think I'll use that one.

get some gas x cause you will need it and a heating pad. Make your own broth and lots off it , it feels good and tastes better then canned.

enpty your house of the food you have now and shop for the suff you know you need. Get a plan, right it down and keep it handy--there are days you will need more then others.

dont lets other tell you who u r or who u want to be come to the chat room for hourly, daily love and advise.

I like that...Nothing tastes as Healthy feels. Hm. I might have to use that one on myself!

Steffy, Banish those negetive people and opinions from your head. EVERY surgery comes with risks (before and after) but as long as you are equiped with the knowledge and perseverance to go through with your new journey, you will be just fine. You're already taking a strong, positive step by adopting your new LBT family. I am 50/50 in my journey, sometimes I need help sometimes I offer help. There are many, many members on here to help you with your journey, the whole journey.

I will keep you in my prayers, as I do for everyone everyday, for your upcoming surgery. Keep the Faith and Relax for now...your post-op life is not right now. Focus on today. The rest will come.

:)

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
