Wow, this thread has really took off! I had my surgery today and I have been up and walking. It was a bit more extensive than we thought but not surprised since it is a revision (band over bypass). A lot of scar tissue needed to be removed from open GBP survey. On my first cup of ice and I have never been so excited to eat ice lol!

On Nov. 15 I start my 10 days pre op shakes 3 times a day no solid food' date=' mushy or liquid food. Just shakes! I don't know how they expect me to survive on just shakes for 10 days, and to top it off I have to cook Thanks Giving dinner and I also donate and feed the homeless every year, and not eat anything. That's just impossible task. I'm trying to figure out how to implement some health food so I can cheat and have something to eat on thanks giving with every one else[/quote']

I am on day 11 of my preop diet and I can tell you 5hat you can do it. When you drastically cut your carbs ajd increase Protein your body shifts fluod. At first alot of what you lose is fluod. Remember the purpose of tye diet is to shrink the liver. If you dont it makes your surgery more difficult. Keep saying this in your head "nothing tastes as good as thin will feel!"

Good Luck Leigh! Let us know how it goes. I am hoping to have mine done in November. As December brings tailgating and family functions and I don't want to be down. I have Aetna insurance. They first told me nine days they have to make a decision. We are on day 11, and they told my surgeon's office it was dueto Sandy. I called today and they said they had 15 days, and the storm had nothing to do with the review. I feel that I may be appealing the insurance's decision. Most people I know with the insurance if it was a yes knew within 5 days, and the denials with Aetna took longer.

Good luck everyone who's having surgery today. I have been on the Protein Shakes, broths, Jello and ice pops for 11 days. My surgery is next Tuesday. My stomach is not handling these shakes very well. Anyone else having these problems??? I can't wait for cottage cheese. Never thought I would say that. LOL.

Well everyone, I got "Banded" yesterday and it went well. Minimal pain, home by 5:00. Stomach tight, still getting rid of the gas anad bloating but even that has improved.

Now, on to the chapter of this journey. Good luck to everyone.

Well I have some very bad news. When they opened me up to do revision, there was so much scar tissue that it could not be done. I am left with 5 holes that will take a couple weeks to heal, lots of physical and emotional pain. So glad I believe in the saying, everything happens for a reason or I would be really messed up. Best of everything to all of you in your weight loss and healthy lifestyles!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
