I think I get a tummy ache when I'm hungry (banded 4th may) - it's quite a bad pain/ache in my belly area near belly button - It seems to be when I havn't eaten but I'm not sure - does anyone else get this?

Hello Everyone... 3 days to goooo, and I get BANDED! :) I just have one question for the expert banders here. I'm still undecided on which band I want. I'm getiing mine done in Monterry, Mexico. So I have a choice between the Swedish or the popular one here in the States, the INAMED. I have been told that my Dr. prefers the Swedish band over the INAMED. Another bandster that just got banded by my Dr. told her the reason he prefers the Swedish is that the swedish goes all the way around the stomach, whereas the INAMED only goes 3/4 the way around!?? Is this TRUE ?

If it only goes 3/4th the way around, then how the heck does it work!! :) I have been leaning towards the INAMED, only because the only person I can find to do the fills, only fills INAMED bands not the Swedish. Any help on assisting me on making my Band choice would be greatly appreicated. What are the Pros and Cons of each? Thanks Jim ** A Soon to be BANDIT**:clap2:

Jim, Check out this site http://www.allerganandinamed.com/products/obesity/us/patient/patient.html#lapband

It will answer more of your questions than i can. I think I would choose the one that's easily 'serviceable' in your case. But, before I surfed this board I didn't know there was an option! I also think there can't be any validity to the 3/4 concept...I held one at the "inaugural seminar" and it clamped completely closed.

Good luck in your decision!

Jim,

I also held an inamed band in my initial seminar and it was a complete ring. I have read that a lot of docs outside of the US prefer the sweedish band because it is softer and so some think there is less likehood for erosion.

I would definately take into account how much you want to spend on fills. You will not find a doctor here in the US who will fill a Sweedish band because they are not FDA approved here.

Are you close enough to make trips to Mexico on a regular basis? That's what I would ask myself.

I was banded on May 9 and have lost 7 lbs in 13 days. I'm tickled PINK!

I haven't bounced back as quickly as I thought I would. I went back to work 6 days after surgery, but I think I could have used another week. I decided to work only 1/2 days this week to get some rest.

I'm having some pain right under my sternum. Maybe it's my liver complaining about being moved aside? Maybe this is all age related. I'll be 60 this month. I keep thinking if I was in my 30's I would recover sooner.

Jim

I held two different sizes of the Inamed band at the info seminar. My clinic puts the 10cm band on women and the larger one (I can't remember how long that one is) on men because typically men's stomachs are larger or thicker? They are complete rings. I think someone sent you a link to Inamed.

IMO, if you live in the states, I would get the Inamed band because you will need fills and what if there is an emergency?

Yes, I do. I haven't figured it out yet, and I 'm still on liquids. Maybe it will change when I start eating mushies on WEDNESDAY!!! :hungry:

Just a bit of info for those of us still doing our blenderized phase. I have always liked the Bear Creek brand of Cheddar Broccoli Soup, it's an instant soup in a bag. So I figured I could eat it during this phase. Well the broccoli chunks are a bit bigger than I remembered. So, I used this cool shaker from Pampered Chef to sift the big pieces out. The shaker looks like any salt shaker but has a domed screen instead of holes. It sifted so perfectly. If anyone else has an instant soup that might need 'refined', I'd recommend trying this.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
