So I am scheduled for lapband removal tommorrow morning. After dysphagia for 2 weeks finally had a barium swallow....found my band was the most severe slip he'd ever seen...my whole stomach sat on top of my band. 3 years...113 lbs down. But there is good with the bad....Found out I'm pregnant today! The radiologist required preggo test and I'm 3 weeks in. :) can't wait to start my new pregnant life.

well, surgery is over and i am in a LOT OF PAIN! first they had to use to smallest needles for my IV and bloodwork because i was so dehydrated they couldn't find a vein...they blew 6 veins trying to find one. they finally used one in my FOOT! my dad and fiancee came with me and waited in the waiting room while i was in surgery. the surgeon told them it would take 45 minutes to remove the band. it took 3 hours because I had so many adhesions and scar tissue. i am sooo sore. been in the hospital for a total of 5 days now. the JP drain emptied a bucket of blood it felt like. and i asked every nurse (i had about 5 different nurses) if the jp drain hurt to remove and everyone said OH NO! just feels wierd. YEAH RIGHT, that was the most horrible horrible thing about the whole ordeal! i screamed, jumped off the bed and started bawling and hyperventilating!!! and i have a high tolerance for pain! the removal while pregnant had to be done, i just hope i won't have a miscarriage. i'm so happy this stupid ordeal is over!

"What is the JP" you mentioned above: Junior Physician ?

P.S. Why do you think it slipped? Can you think back of perhaps anything caused the slip? I'm curious...because if you think something caused the slip....I want to make sure to watch out for it. I'm getting banded in 30 days from today !

Thoughts?

I would REALLY like to know what she senses that caused the band to slip below her stomach. I know none of us are perfect (even the doctors) but if she sensed she wasn't as careful (in some situations with the band), I would LOVE to know that information so we can all be proactive to watch out for it.

P.S. It could have been a band that was placed/sutured improperly by the doctor also also...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
