Trouble Getting Things Down

Recommended Posts

I just had me 2nd fill 2 days ago... I been put back on the liquid diet for a few day, I haven't eaten anything yet but I just drank a Protein Shake and what normally is OK for me to drink in the morning I'm having trouble with.... It gets stuck and it hurts, I don't know if I'm sips that are to big or if it's just tighter... Any suggestions? (apart from taking smaller sips)

After reading many of the posts and talking to the nurse practioners at my clinic...I'm just wodering if you taking too big of sips and if your shake is too thick. I have also read that sometimes "we" can have difficulty with Breakfast and that sometimes a couple sips of hot tea/coffee will kinda un-plug whatever is causing the problems. These are just thoughts.

I have been banded 14 months and I have problems in the AM. I drink a large hot tea and that is it. I cannot have food or a shake until mid-morning. my band is just too tight. That may be your problem. Hold off on the AM shakes for a day or two and see if that is the issue. Good luck.

I have some loose tea samples that I can send you from my Tealightful company. Just give me your address and I can mail you a few varieties to see what you like. ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
