Had my surgery on June 6 and my first fill of 5.5cc in an 11cc band mid August. Show I be eating 4 ozs per meal? Or one cup per meal? I know to keep the focus on Protein first. And what types of drinks are people drinking to stay hydrated. I feel like I am not drinking enough. I need an easy way to keep track of all this and get back on track.......please help

Check with your doc on meals. Mine says 4 oz Protein and 1/4 cup veggies. I bless if I put it into ameasuring cup it would about 1 cup. I sip all day! I use and reuse the 32 oz Gatorade bottles so I can keep track if quantity. I drink 3 to 4 full bottles a day. I drink: Water with lemon, diluted crystal light decay iced tea, diet Hawaiian punch packets, whatever just to keep the fluids rolling. Good luck!

I eat 4 oz of Protein and the rest veggies to make up to a cup of total food. Water like mentioned above it the best, but crystal light is good too. Skim or 1% milk to get some Calcium is also good. Best of luck to you

There's also a great website called myfitnesspal.com. You can track all of your food, exercise, and weight all in one place and it's free. When setting it up, it will give you some default recommendations for nutrition. I customized them to agree with what my doctor recommended. It's a valuable tool for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
