Recommended Posts

I'm scared I'll stop losing weight. I've lost 10 lbs. since surgery.

If you make smart, healthy food choices, you will loose weight. In fact, you should lose more because you'll be getting a balanced diet and adequate calories again.

Just stick to band sized portions and healthy food choices then you'll be fine.

Journal what you eat and it really helps you watch what you are doing. You don't have to do it for the rest of your life but it really helps to "relearn" food and eventually you will do like second nature. For example, I was really surprised by fruit and the amount of carbs they have.

I agree with the earlier posts. I was afraid of the same thing but I continue to lose especially when I increased my calories a bit :) You will do fine!

If you don't eat, then your weight loss will stop.

Your concerns are normal...but as others have mentioned eating with smart food choices and in the right sized portions will be the keys to your weight loss success. If you follow the rules, you will loose weight. The band is very self empowering, as your perseverance and complying with your diet will determine your weight loss.

You should be aware of your daily Protein goal, and strive to meet it every day. If you have too little Protein, you will slow your weight loss. If you have too few calories, then you will also stall your weight loss.

You will need to do some experimenting to identify what types of exercise, and understand the proper food choices that will work for you, and be compliant with the portion sizes recommended by your surgeon to be successful with your weight loss.

I've been advised to never count calories, only to make wise food choices and to measure my portions. Every surgeon will have slightly different diet requirements, so it's always a good idea to begin with understanding and following your surgeon's recommendations.

Best wishes...

With Lap Band like most WLS it is very important to eat your Protein. Lap band patients who consistantly eat more protein tend to lose at a better rate and are more successful than those that eat less protein. Good luck and if your really worried log and measure your food, I am almost 2 years out and I still log everything I eat. Some may think that is over kill but I need the checks and balances. Good luck to you, Di

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
