I just wanted to know if anyone else body piercings and what, if anything, their doc/ surgeon said. I'm having my surgery in 4 days and have curved barbell in my navel, nose stud and one in the cartilage on top. At my pre-op the surgeon had me lay down and lift my shirt so he could feel all around my abdomen but he didn't say anything about bellyring and I forgot to ask.

I would thake them out, I'm pretty sure they would ask you when you checked in at the hospital if you had any and would make you take them out then. That way they are safe at home, but rolling around in a bag or in your pants pocket.

The hospital staff will ask you to confirm that all piercings are removed before you are prepped.

I work in a hospital and before you roll down to surgery they will ask you to take them out. Best thing is to take them out at home. Like the other young lady said they are safer at home. Lots of jewelry gets lost in hospitals. Good luck with your journey .

I took out my nose ring and earrings but left my tragus piercing in and they just put some tape over it. I would think they would want your belly ring out though for sure.

What about nipple piercings?

I would bet they will want it all out. Nipple rings could get in the way of resusitation paddles if they need to use them. Always better to be safe than sorry. Just my 2 cents

i had to take all my piercings out for surgery (and also had to do this for my gallbladder surgery and breast reduction). so its best to remove them. i put all mine back in the day after surgery.

I had to take all mine out for gallbladder surgery. It was kinda weird to see all my jewelry in my hand. There was over 20 pieces!

Wow Aries....that's a lot of metal! Lol...I thought I had it bad with my nose, navel, tongue, top of ear (already took out the 3 on each side). Ive had 3 past laproscopic surgeries (2 for female stuff and last one for gall bladder removal). I never took out navel piercing for any of those, even though they wanted me to. They ended up taping it. Just was curious if they were more strict on this one. If had it for 19 years and never taken it out.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
