Pre-Op Diet And I'm So Hungry!

Recommended Posts

I am on my first day of my 2 week pre op liquid diet. I can honestly say that I needed this thread, my stomach is growling, I'm going to go drink some Water and distract myself. i can tell that most of my "hunger" is mental as well, I got through the work day just fine. @rachel please don't give up, we are in this together. With everything it is one day at a time, if you didn't make it one day just pick up where you left off the next day. Believe in yourself!

I agree with everyone, do not give up, do not cancel the surgery. It will get better, I have been on the shakes for 7 days now, it's getting better. At work it's much easier for me since I'm on the go since I get there, I also have the cafeteria around the corner of our office so when I walk to the ladies room or break room it's torture so now I walk to the other side of the building to use the restroom and get my ice and Water. I also take with me some Jello for the inbetween shakes and that has helped me. Hang in there, we are all in it for the better!!

HUGS!

Miriam

I have already planned to go to the movies as much as possible. Pass the popcorn stand and try to focus on the movie. That is going to be a great distraction for me.

Thanks for all the comments and support, you guys are awesome. Not only did I complete the pre op diet but, I also list 7lbs, in the process. I am in day three post op and it is a challenge understanding the different sensations my body is experiencing but, at least I am gaining an understanding of this whole process. Good luck to everybody!

Well, I messed up last night. Have already lost eight pounds....I cheated. Had some honey Dijon potato chips and a big chocolate cookie! I feel like crap this morning, physically and emotionally. Darn it!

I am almost done with my 2 wk diet before surgery I am so nervous that I have not lost enough weight and will have to postpone surgery, does anyone know how much weight you are expected to lose?? Please help I am panicking!!!

Calm down, did your doctor say you had lose a certain amount? Not all doc's do.. mine didn't. The pre-op is primarily to shrink your liver, it's also good training for what life will be like post op.

Call the office ask to speak to the nurse, if there is a required weight loss you haven't met.. your nurse may be able to advocate for you. :D

quick grammar/spelling edit

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
