Your Progess-Feel Like I Should've Lost More At This Poing

Recommended Posts

I was banded April 26. 2012 . And since the beginning of liquid diet I have only lost 33. Am I where I should be? Am I expecting too much? Dr says I'm loosing at the perfect rate so that I don't have extra skin later to take of. But dang I really thought it would come off quicker.

Thanks,

Karie

do not compare your excellent weight loss against others.

someone like me would kill to be at your weight.

your body loses at its own pace. accept it and make the best of it.

would you rather be 33 pounds heavier??

all the best..

Hey, 33 lbs is GREAT! That's over 10 lbs a month since surgery.

Everyone loses at different a different pace. It's hard to compare or tell if you're where you're "supposed" to be since it's such an individual thing. As long as your doctor (and you of course!) are satisifed with the progress, consider it success. Losing 33 pounds to me sounds very successful!

It's not 33 pounds since surgery, it's 33 since the beginning of my 2 week liquid diet. But thank you everyone for all the encouraging words

My weight loss is very slow. Banded on 2/2/12 and only down 24lbs. I had my 8th fill today and I hope this puts me in the green zone. I really wanted to be 40-50 lbs down by now. So hang in there and I will try to do the same.

I was banded on 1/24/12 and I have only lost 18lbs since surgery, but a total of 33lbs since I started my process (July 2011). I think I'm getting in the green zone, and I just kicked up my exercise by joining a gym and I have a trainer once a week we are working on gaining muscle since it will burn more calories than just cardio. So I think you are doing awesome. :)

um , you've "only" lost 33 lbs in 3.5 months , and you're not happy ???? ...................you might want to rethink this, because you probably did;nt gain 33 lbs in 3.5 months, so doubtful you would lose it quicker. a slow and healthy weight loss equals a healthy body that keeps the weight off. You are doing very well, and your Dr is happy. count your blessings, because some people take forever to lose anything. Hope your successful weight loss continues ! Good luck !!

I agree with the others, 33 lbs is not something to just brush off. That is 33 lbs that you carried around and didn't loose before your surgery, or liquid pre-op. I lost slowly my first 6 months, then all of a sudden. I am on vacation and going to a gym, so I am watching my weight on a scale, but I stop at one of those truck stop places and put a quarter into the machine and it says 147. I am shocked and happy! What I am saying is after a month vacation, I had suddenly dropped 15 lbs that I was not aware I had done! Best wishes, you are probably in for a NSV soon!! Karen

33 lbs is amazing. I haven't moved other than UP .4 oz in the last several weeks but the dr. seems happy so I'm going to stay happy. Sounds like your doc is pleased so that should be something to look at. It's impressive! And I bet the future will be just as bright :)

Just remember, we didn't put weight on overnight, it's not going to come off overnight either. Everything will be fine. Read my quote in my signature. It applies to this too. Be strong and positive. :)

Hey!! Listen, I am in the same boat and discouraged as well. I have lost 25lbs & I had my surgery 6/12/12. I lost most of my weight during my pre-op diet. In fact, 2 weeks ago I went for my first fill and the MD refused to fill me :o !! He wanted me to eat more Protein and less "softer" foods to see if I had true restriction. So Monday I will get my first fill. Thank goodness! I feel as if I am hanging by a thread.

Hang in there! If you need an ear.....I am always here!!

I am glad that I am not the only one who feels that the weight loss is slower than I expected. I have lost 26 lbs. I really wanted to be under 200 lbs by now but I am still loosing a little each week so I am happy with that. I go for my 2nd fill next week so I am hoping I get some restriction with that. My doc is pleased with my loss, he suggests loosing no more than 2 lbs per week.

I think you are all doing great and you are the people that keep me going. I am so glad to have this site to "talk" to other people who are going through the same things. :D

People that lose weight through diet and exercise normally lose about 1-2 pounds a week. We are no different other than we have something helping us with reducing our appetite. We have to watch what we eat and how much we eat as well as exercise too. It sucks that it doesn't just melt away but remember... you didn't get this way overnight; you won't lose overnight either. Be patient with yourself and Celebrate the little things.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
