All my paperwork was submitted for approval today. I am a nervouse wreck :( I may not hear anything until real close to my August 15th surgrey date. I have jumped through every hoop that insurance has required. I had to do the 6 month weight management, maintain a BMI of 40+ and have 2 years worth of weight records through a Dr. Although I have done it all the thought of denial weighs heavy in the back of my mind. Does anyone else have ODS or had to do the 6 month weight management? I have waited 9 long months for this and to have come this far and be denied would be devastating. I'm usually a very positive person and I am truly trying hard to just let my mind rest but it's so hard. Anyone have any advice, input, similar experience?? Help!! I'm making myself crazy!!

I'm now complete with everything. I've just pre-registered at Santa Barbara Hospital and my check-in time is 11:15am on Monday, Aug 6 and surgery for 1:15pm.

I'm excited and ready!

AUGUST 22!!! Nervous as hell, but at the same time, each day just seems to crawl to a close. I just don't ever want to look at this body again, in a mirror, or reflection. I cant say in person because I cant see much of myself, unless its in a mirror or a reflection, because I'm too fat, lol.

The days will quickly disappear for you. Mine were crawling when I had 3 weeks and counting, but it's around the corner and I'm ready.

I've been on the "6" month process since last December. I'm finally ready I'm set for Aug 7th. The folks at true results did great working with my insurance. I got approved first time and much quicker than the 45 days that was expected. Don't go crazy worrying it will work out.

Well finally feel well enough to be on the support group today. Surgery was yesterday, went well and he also fixed my hiatal hernia. Lots of pain and nausea yesterday and much more manageable to day. Trying to stay on top of my pain medications. Struggling to get my 6 small meals in a day. On full liquids for a week. Is this normal not to get all your meals in?? Trying to stay hydrated. Thanks for the support and any tips post op is greatly appreciated :) !!

Hi Everyone! This is my very first post! I have surgery scheduled for August 17th (the day before my husbands b-day). Im feeling a gamut of emotions- happy, excited, nervous about surgery, nervous about after surgery and also curious as to how Im going to do with the Band overall. Ive been a recovered bulimic for 13 yrs and in an attempt to stay recovered have not really dealt with or analysed my eating or body (lest I feel the need to slip back into old habits) so needless to say this processes has brought up alot of stuff --not to mention my poor husband having to deal with this too. He really needs a support group for spouses of people going through this. I am so beyond ready for my life to change and finally have a perm. solution (of course as long as I use the lap band as the tool its meant to be). I have read the book and every handout my TrueResults center has given me. I would like to think Im as prepared as I can be.lol.

Does anyone know of a thread or group my husband can look into for support and to help him be as supportive as he wants to be?

Thanks!!

Fleur

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
