Scary Accident

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I pulled up in my driveway, got out and proceeded to get my son out of the car and fainted not once but twice. I never in my life have had that happen to me and thank God my husband found me collapsed in the driveway and rushed me to the hospital. Cause of fainting.......DEHYDRATION!!!! I have had a hard time with liquids and the consumption of.

My question is has anyone experienced fainting after lap band surgery. The ER doctor said it had nothing to with my band but my husband feels differently. Because of it I am on a Gatorade liquid diet for the weekend and unable th return to work until I see my surgeon Monday.

Definitely scarey!! But very glad you are ok! I didn't experience any fainting. Some light-headedness and dehydration, but never to the point of fainting. Keep us posted after you see the surgeon!!

That is so scary. To think that it could've happened while driving your son.....I'm glad your husband was there to help you right away. It could've ended up much worse.

Yess i totally feel like with the lap band you have to be aware of how much u intake liquid wise its very easy to forget how much Water or liquids your drinking when you feel full and no desire to drink anything. I believe you probably should be drinking 8-10cups a day atleast. more if your out in the heat. Thank heavens for your safety glad you all are okay!

Are you also having trouble eating? Normally if you can't drink that means you're band is too tight. Too many people post on here that they eat so little food and are proud of that. We are adults and need to eat normal adult sized meals. Getting to the point where you pass out from lack of food is really dangerous. I've had times to my life where I've gotten tunnel vision severe dizziness because of lack of food. That's not healthy. There was another poster talking recently about fainting. I posted there as well that you can be a serious hazard if you faint while driving. Sure we all want to lose weight but your weight loss is not worth my life. Our first responsibility is to be safe.

Thanks honk but I have not had a fill yet. There is absolutely nothing in my band so I eat enough just don't drink enough. I try very hard to eat and drink enough each day but I guess I have been lacking the proper liquid intake. I have always had a propblem with drinking alot of liquids. Iam just nit a bug drinker. This is all new to me as I was just banded last Wednesday. So this is and probably will be a learn experience for me and I would never intentionally miss a meal or stop drinking to just lose weight. I live myself and most importantly my family way to much to do something foolish like that.

I ended up back in the hospital for dehydration 2 days after my surgery too. You just need to remind yourself to drink and you'll fine.

Could your doctor have put fill in during surgery? Often when someone is having trouble drinking Water it turns out they actually have fill. I would call and ask.

Never fainted, but did find myself taking a fall on the front staires after a dizzy spell. The only thing hurt was my pride, thankfully. Life now is such a balancing act. Keep drinking!

I've experienced two dizzy spells within the past week. Once sitting in front of the computer at work and the second while driving to pick up my kids. Each lasted for about 10 seconds and caught me totally off guard. I attributed it to maybe not drinking enough, but I'm not that behind on Fluid. I for sure get 48 oz in a day, more than I ever got before the band.

I thought the same thing too Indy. But I guess for me that was nit enough. I have definitely been trying to get in more a day.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
