Out Of Shape

Recommended Posts

We got a above ground pool and had them dig a hole so the pool could go under 2 feet. Well they didn't put the sand back because my hubby says he was going to do it. Soo I thought to be helpful I would go and start refilling the space a long the side of the pool! Why did I do that ..... I started seeing stars- felt like I was going to faint after 30 min in the sun doing it and my arms feel like jello! Talk about being out of shape!!!! Wonder how many calories I burned?

There are some good websites to convert activity to calories! I started back swimming this week, I do breast stroke and side stroke laps with webbed gloves. oh my gosh, i can barely move my arms! Yikes I am out of shape too!

Of course your light-headedness could be due to overexertion in the sun. However, are you on blood pressure medication? I was very light-headed shortly after surgery and when my PCP cut my blood pressure meds in half, it helped a lot. Then my PCP took me completely off my BP meds and it went away altogether.

I think I had only lost around 20 pounds when I was taken off the BP meds. I was pretty shocked that my BP got back to normal with such a small weight loss.

I worry about dehydration. Nutritionist says we need more liquid with heat and excercise. I've had same issues too. Just light headed...she said to try ice Water with a small amount of orange juice.

Nope never had hbp. I think it was the heat and not properly hydrated. Went swimming today with the kids- couldn't get much exercise cause they followed me all over the pool! I'm sure I probably burned a little bit of calories.

I'll try that next time... Just doesn't seem like you could ever get enough Water in this heat. I'm in south Florida!

There are a lot of things that can cause light-headedness, but the big ones related to weight loss are too little Water, too little Protein, and depletion of electrolytes (which are also lost in sweat): potassium and sodium, primarily. Fitness drinks exist for a reason, and so do protein supplements. Take care out in that heat, folks! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
