Well here I am on day three post op. I said I would keep everyone posted on my progress. It hasnt been bad at all. I am sleepy a lot but that is probably the meds and no food. Yesterday I could barely get 2 bottles of Water down. Today I get to start full liquids but only 2 oz, at a time. I woke up this morning and the minute I stood up I thought I was gonna throw up. I just kept swallowing and it passed. I gotthe nausea meds immediately. I have had the feeling about 4 times this morning. So that is about the worst that has happened so far. Gas hasnt been bad at all, but I have been walking a lot and my hubby has been tapping my back and that seems to help a lot. So my journey is starting out on the plus side. I will keep everyone informed on my journey. Good Luck to all future and existing bandsters.

I'm on day three as well. I haven't had any nausea but the incisional pain is way worse then I thought it would be. I've been keeping up on my pain medication to try .and stay in front of the pain. So far I haven't felt hungry but I think that's the pain. Good luck!!

Day 3 for me as well. No nausea, but sore at the port site and sore neck. I started back on Protein Shakes yesterday and that's going well. I am making 1/2 serving. Seems just the right amount. Good luck everyone.

Dinda I have not been hungry at all. I am eating 2 oz or blended cottage cheese just to put some substance in my body. I have felt really tired today and I think that is because of being on just Clear Liquids. My pain is very minimal. The only thing that hurts is when I take a deep breath. Walking seems to help that. I got to start full liquids today so I also had a Protein Shake that took me 5 hours to drink. So just taking it slow so I dont have any setbacks. I have absolutely no regrets for having this done.

We are all so different. I can drink the 1/2 Protein Drink right down no restriction. I wish I had some.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
