Fat Pictures...

Does it bother anyone else to see pictures of the old you?

Im down 150 pounds from my starting weight so there is quite a diffrence in how I look.. you would think I could look at them and feel some sort of accomplishment or happiness in the diffrence I see in myself and my health but thats so not the case!!

I literally want to cry when I see them I cringe and have to look away... Idk what it is maybe ashamed that I ever let myself get there.. Or scared to think of getting that big again.. Idk :(

This is the reason I still can't bring myself to the point of posting before/after pics. I just can't stand it. How did I let myself get so obese?! There is also that part of me that will nit pick at new pics. Maybe at some point there will be a new pic I like and I will post those dreaded before/after shots.

Yea, it makes me want to cry too when I see pictures of myself when I was heavier. Even just face pics, I was like wow, what a difference! And the sad thing is when I was my heaviest, my son was a baby, so as much as I love to reminisce on those pictures of me and my son when he was young and think of how much of a joy he was, it still makes me sad to see myself like that. But at the same time, it's encouraging.

I like the idea of putting the old pics on the fridge. I think I will do that. Maybe even figure out a way to send them to myself every so often during the day to keep me motiviated when I'm out of the house!

OMG This is why I love this site I’ve been struggling with this lately but for me it’s every time I see an old picture of myself I think that’s what I must still look like even though I’ve lost almost 90 pounds. I never really knew I looked that heavy in the first place so I struggle with my mind telling me “since you weren’t aware you were heavy back then, your still not aware the you are heavy now” Does this make since to anyone else? I feel like I look okay when I take pictures alone but when I take picture with other people in them I feel like I look fat…. :(

I don't like to see them either, even though there are very few. However, one thing that happened the last time I lost 100 lbs+ was that I got stopped for speeding & the cop didn't believe I was the same person. It was a hassle ( but in a good way.) I got a ticket anyway. So, I went & got a new photo. I may do that again. My school Id was right before my surgery. May have to get that changed, too!

Wow. Yes I understand. That is our minds playing tricks on us. And also confirms that even though we've lost the weight, we still have a lot of internal work to do. I've only lost 25 lbs so I can only imagine the feeling when I've lost more than 40 lbs (which is the largest amount of weight I've lost on my own).

I did not take very many pics of myself. Lots of family trips without my body in them...maybe just my face only hiding behind my kids and husband. I to ally have a full body on Facebook as a friend pointed out the other day. But how could I have let myself get this far...and why. I am so scared to fail.

I actually don't mind it. It makes me feel proud knowing what I used to look like.

I wear a badge at work with an old picture on it. Everyone tells me I should get a new one taken because it doesn't even look like me, but I think it's funny to keep wearing.

I keep copies of the two pictures I allowed at my heaviest on my cell phone. I show them to people to help motivate them. I feel if I could do it I want to help others. But I had to search to find a picture since I was always the one behind the camera.

I keep my fat picture on my desk at work to remind me of what i don't want to go back to. I show it off sometimes when people ask how much I've lost. I let the picture do the talking. I think of it as an accomplishment not as embarrassment.

I was going through my photos on Facebook and I came across my pre op photos. I stared for like 10 minutes because I guess I never really knew I was that big. It made me very sad to know that I ever let myself get that bad. However I will keep them because I need that reminder every now and again to never let that happen again.

I hate looking at pictures of myself! There are very few pictures of me b/c I hate how I look in them. Its evidence of how I didn't take care of myself. Even now with what bit I have lost, I still don't like looking in the mirror or pictures. I can't see a big difference between then and now but my husband (who is in Kosovo and skype with every day) says that he can see it. But I think he is just saying it to be kind.. I have a long road ahead of me.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
