Day 2 Off Post Op...help...i Feel Like....

Recommended Posts

So glad I found you guys too! I was banded on June 14th, so day 6 post op, and don't feel very good. Mainly the gas pain and pain in my chest (under the sternum) and between my shoulder blades. Always feel like I have to burp and sometimes I do burp/hiccup and it hurts, so worried about my band slipping because of this, I'm not sure if that's a worry or not but I find myself worrying about everything. I'm lucky to get 8oz down a day plus some popsicles. I so want this to get better and be on my way to a good diet and weight loss! My stomach is still so bloated/swollen, wondering when this gets better. Have some pain when sitting/standing but not all the time. Trying to walk around as much as I can. Today was the first day I thought why did I do this? Guess I thought I would be much better by now. I see my Dr. tomorrow for 1 week visit.

I had my surgery yesterday and I feel great. I have pain at the incision points, but most of gas is moved out. I am starving! That is the hardest part. I just want to eat! I called my Dr and they gave me permission to eat scrambled egg and yogurt. I am drinking my Protein Shakes and still on bouillion and Water. I hope it gets better soon for you.

I was banded 9-20-11. For the first couple

Of months I was very well aware that I've been banded. Just the idea of it there was my drive to succeed at this.

Now, most of the time I forget I even have it. When I go

Out to eat it is just natural to order healthier foods and foods of smaller portions.

Like everything else this is a roller coaster. Some days it's a uphill struggle and other days it's a down hill breeze.

You've made the decision to change your life and everyday achieve your goal for the day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
