Banded June 5Th And Finally Feeling Good!

Recommended Posts

I know there were a lot of people that got banded on June 5th, so I was wondering if we were all doing the same routine and on the same page as far as how we feel goes.

I weighed myself for the first time today, and I am 10 pounds down from the day before the surgery. That alone makes me feel wonderful. Yesterday I was able to go to Bealle Street in Memphis and watch my husband run the Gibson 5k and watch him eat shrimp and fries and beer afterward. I walked over a mile, was not tempted to eat any bad food, and the only negative was that I was EXHAUSTED when I got home.

Car rides do not feel good yet. Going to Beale Street (30 minute drive) I had such severe back pain that we had to stop at Walgreens and get a couple of heating Patches to put on my back. Plus my jeans cover my belly button, and my surgeon put stitches in my belly button, so I had to spend most of the day with my jeans unbuttoned so it wouldn't rub against my stitches!

As far as food is concerned my mom went out and bought me a 6 oz bowl, and told me I couldn't eat anything that didn't fit into it. So throughout the day I am having 4-5 oz of mashed potatoes, one sugar free Jello, chocolate jello pudding (my favorite), and cream of wheat and I am getting very full. I know I am not getting enough liquids throughout the day, because I am only going to the bathroom two - three times on average, so that is something I am going to have to step up.

Oh and last, I slept on my stomach last night! I am a tummy sleeper, and to have slept on my back since Tuesday was a killer. I slept on my stomach with the heating pad on my back, and I woke up feeling like a new woman.

I really had some hard days the first two or three days, with such pain I felt like I was having a child, but days like today really make this whole surgery and process worth it. I hope everybody else banded on June 5th is having just as much success!

I too was banded on June 5th. I'm feeling pretty good. Although, last night I started to feel a lot of pain near my port but I think that's because I bent down the wrong way or something. I haven't really been out of the house yet, just been kinda taking it easy but I plan on venturing out tomorrow. As far as food goes, my diet is a little different than yours. I've been on a liquid diet since surgery and I'll be on a liquid diet until it's been 2 weeks after surgery. Then I can finally move to mushies. But I'm living off cream of broccoli Soup and sugar free Popsicles. I think I may get some cream of wheat to try. I have yet to sleep on my stomach yet but I'm more of a side sleeper and I've been doing that just fine.

I was on a liquid diet 10 days before surgery and lost 18lbs, I have yet to weigh myself since surgery but I'm eager to see what else I've lost.

Good luck in the rest of your journey!

Im another 6/5 Bandster. Yesterday I broke down and had 3 bites of Mashed potatoes so happy to see I'm not the only one. I will have some today once too. Otherwise oatmeal Popsicles, Crystal light, Tomato Soup and v8 have been keeping me alive. I was only peeig about 3x too so have upped my fluids yesterday and today. I am down 12 lbs since day of surgery. I have a dr appt turs and hoping toove to some more mushy food but I swear te dietician said I might be healed up enough by weekend so that is why I'm trying a bit of mashed. Waiting an hour to drink after though is hard cause im trying to stay hydrated.

When I sit or stand or turn my torso I have an intense shot of pain but then it's gone. I had talked w dr office and they said probably where port is attached to muscle.

food smells good but no way I would ever eat and risk puking. Hoping to try elliptical today or tomorrow at gym. Been walking a couple blocks a day and attended a parade and concert last night with no issues!

I don't have an appointment yet, was told I didn't need one until six weeks post op! I might call tomorrow t o verify that. My dr also said days 4 - 7 I'm on a full liquid diet, which is anything that goes through a straw. My mashed potatoes are thin enough for that and my goodness did they make me happy!

Now I am craving Tomato Soup though :)

I was banded june 1st...i have been feeling alittle better. My drs office has been letting me eat soft foods as long as I chew really well, and it has worked without me being sick at all, although its only been about 5 or 6 bites every couple of hrs. I also had a hernia removed, and have had major port pain since day 1... I have been moving around alot more, today is the best day of all...glad u all r feeling well. :o)

I was banded June 4th, I too am a tummy sleeper and was able to at least sleep in a bed last night on my side rather than a recliner! Keep me posted....

I also was banded on June 5th. I am walking 1-2 miles a day but am tired when I get home. We have had several parties to be at but I brought my own food so it was not too bad. The hardest part was our church festival... they ran out of BBQ chicken before I could buy one to freeze for a few weeks down the road. I am on liquids only and see my surgeon on Wednesday. I gained 8 pounds during the surgery but have lost that plus 6 more as of this morning. I am a daily weigher which I know is not the best but have been doing it for 5 years. I really don't like sweet liquids but have been enjoying Greek yogurt and cream of chicken Soup I put hot sauce in. Also struggling to get enough liquids in. I am still swollen mostly over the port. It seems to be quite noticeable right now so I hope it settles down at some point. Hang in there... we will all be back to normal soon!

Hello, I am a June 5 bandster too. I feel pretty good and Im back to my office job today. I feel a little weak but im hanging in there. I have not lost any weight, on the contrary, I went up 1.5lbs from the day of the surgery, I hope this is normal. I went out on friday and saturday to get toghethers and brought my own food which was ok. The most diffucult part was yesterday when I went to the movies and wanted popcorn soooooo badly! Like I said Im not in pain anymore but I do feel weak. Constipation was bad but had prune juice and that helped. Left shoulder pain I alleviated with a heat pad and advils. sleeping was not a big problem for me since im a side sleeper anyway. Im scared to go back to the gym because I feel like im going to faint. I dont feel strong enough. Let me know if anybody is going to the gym already and how you feel. And if there are others that, like me, have gained weight, I wonder if this is normal. Thanks a bunch. Hope everybody feels better soon and we all look and feel as fabulous as we hoped for.

June 5th here too.... They said I rolled over on my side (the port side) in the recovery room. I've been doing it ever since too.... I just can't sleep on my back. It hurts but I have a really high pain tolerence. I quit taking the liquid loritab the 2nd day I was home because I didn't need it and I hate to take those kind of meds. I've been on Tylenol since and am having no problems.

I've only lost 3.5 lbs since the surgery, but I had lost 27.5 before the pre-op diet. So I'm down 31 punds total.... I think when I can start eating actual food again I'll lose more. My surgeon told me to do 3 days liquids, 3 days mushy, and 3 days soft and move on to solids when I felt comfortable. So far the most I can eat is 3.75 cups of food before I start to feel like I'm going to vomit. I'm positive I'm not getting enough nutrition, but I don't know what I can do about it at this point.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
