How Many "perfect" People Are Out There?

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering how many people out there eat perfectly and work out like they should? When I read some posts (none in particular, just generally), it seems that most people on here are perfect eaters. They eat their 3 oz of Protein and then veggies, all 3x a day. If I could stay with that plan, I wouldn't have needed this "tool" to help me not eat so much! I've been banded for 2 1/2 yrs now and have lost over 100 lbs (about 12 left to go) and I'm far from perfect. I'm not even a good eater. I eat whatever I want, never measure anything, don't count calories, fat grams, or protein. I eat a few bites of everything then I'm done. I love my life now. I can fit into a sz 7/8 and no longer have hypertension.

My band slipped about 4 mths ago (my fault, too much vomiting from eating way too fast) and I've been unfilled for 3 wks now. I go back in next week (thank God) for a fill. I guess my brain finally decided to catch up with my band and be satisfied on very little food now,cuz I haven't gained a pound. I do eat a little more than I did, but not much. I thought for sure I'd gain 20 lbs.

I just wanted to get a count on here of everyone who eats perfectly all the time, works out like they should, and is happy. I sure wouldn't be if I still had to diet the rest of my life. That's why I got the band - so I wouldn't ever have to diet again!

Perfect? None. It doesn't exist. We're all human thus fallible and flawed by nature.

I do eat healthy at least 90% of the time. I log everything I eat on an app called Lose It no matter what I eat. I track calories, Protein, carbs, and fat.

I am very happy. I don't consider it a diet, I consider it a healthy lifestyle change. Because I do allow myself the occasional splurge or cheat it's very livable and realistic for me to continue for a lifetime. Plus, I just feel so good when I am eating healthy.

Ha. Nope. Not perfect. Even lately with my "re-commitment" I still have times where I don't make the best choice. BUT... I make better choices much more often than not.

Marci, this is exactly how I'm feeling. For the past two weeks I've eaten exactly what I wanted. Even a bite of ice cream here or there, gasp! And I've lost 5 pounds in the past week! I hate to diet and I don't want to count calories! My dr doesn't even tell me to--he says no more than 1/2 cup of food three times per day. I'm doing that. Diet no more!

Absolutely I eat perfectly...between the hours of 11pm to 7am :)

Truthfully I tryto follow the 80/20 rule...80% of the time I'm perfect..the other 20...I indulge

I'm so happy to see some not perfect dieters posting! Gosh I am fairly new and keep reading all these posts about how healthy everyone eats and all I could think is if this is how you really eat, why did you need a band and furthermore how can you be fat eating so perfect?? I wonder how many are telling the truth!

Thank you thank you thank you!! I was pretty sure I was going to fail eventually because if I could eat like this all the time I wouldn't be fat in the first place! This is the best post I've ever read on here! Thanks for being real!

Some people do seem to have being perfect locked down (either that or they are glossing over things a bit, lol). I'm definitely not perfect. If I had even been 75% I'm sure I would have been very close to if not at goal by now. It's much harder once you're doing it, and life intervenes. This has been way more difficult than I ever thought. All we can do now is just keep going and do our best to follow the rules we're supposed to. I hope we can all get there at some point!

I'm nowhere near perfect and am becoming even less so. I have never logged my food (except the odd day here and there), I don't measure anything, don't do Protein first and I eat Snacks.< /p>

Perfect?? Definetly not, however there ARE some people on here who think they know EVERYHING about eating healthy. If that were true then hey would not be on here..!

I eat what I want just small amounts, I'll choose grilled over dried every time but if I want a piece of chocolate or a glass of wine then I have it OCCASIONALLY ... That's the key..! Good luck.!!

perfect? hardly, I don't feel like I am on a diet. it feels like I am finally worth taking the time to eat better. I have not always thought I was worth working hard. Self esteem was a problem since I was about 13 or 14 years old! this surgery along with a wonderful class I am taking with my church have helped me to accept me, even the "warts"!

I love that I go to a club to exercise, I would never have done so before the band. I never wanted anyone to look at me and my fat. I now work hard to get rid of that fat, for me.

I enjoy the complements but the best it how much better I feel in general. I don't hurt all over anymore, I can walk a long way. It is amazing how different life is now.

I log my food, all of it good, bad and ugly. it helps me to be accountable to me and what I want for my "new life"! some days it has way too many carbs or fat. it helps me to see it & hope that I won't do it too many times. I used to eat "crap" all the time and never accepted responsibility for it.

I love how close to goal you are! I am not in a hurry, I just want to feel the best I can and live a healthy life but I want to get to that goal weight too!

I'm not sure what perfect would be because there are so many different rules and guidelines out there.

I guess it doesn't matter what perfect is because I guess I've figured out what works for me personally.

From day one of this lapband journey I have not dieted, counted, tracked anything. I don't exercise either, but I am more active in general since I'm no longer lugging around over 100 pounds of excess weight. Life is good, so maybe that in it's self is perfect :)

I am so not perfect... I have my morning Protein shake and that's where it ends. I kinds eat what I want but I just eat very little of it. I don't really eat breads, Pasta or rice at. But I have ice cream, Cookies and other bad things a couple times a week. But even with the Cookies, I can only have one or two and I can't eat anymore than that.

Im at a stuck point again, but im ok with that. Size 8/10 and that's what my goal was anyway. I need to adjust my head out of lose mode to maintain mode anyway.

Going into this I was determined to succeed. That meant for me I needed to follow "orders.". And I do, most of the time. HOWEVER...sometimes I don't. I too try to follow the 80/20 rule. I do log my food as I need to for me. I WANT to be successful, so I'm completely willing to make some lifestyle changes. But I'm not perfect, and I definitely don't beat myself up when I'm not perfect. I've lost almost 60 lbs since being banded 1/26/12.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
