First Fill - Please Tell Me That Results Get Better!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 4/26. I lost 14 lbs with the pre-op and post-op diets and stopped losing about 3-4 weeks ago.

I'm going for my first fill today and really hoping that my results improve. I'm supposed to get three cc's today.

I keep reading that I shouldn't expect much weight loss in the beginning, but I'm hoping that I'm getting past the beginning point. I think it's a bit depressing and im trying to hang in there.

I was fortunate to have restricion right from the beginning. Eat healthy and exercise it will make a huge difference in your weight loss! Good Luck!

I hear you. I was banded 5/21 and I lost 16 lbs the first week but nothing the second. I'm still on the post op diet and it was so exciting to lose the 16 lbs, but NOTHING the second week??? I know not to expect that kind of weight loss again but I'm probably only having 800 calories a day so how can I have lost NOTHING???

A couple things..

-For most people, it takes more than one fill before you have adequate restriction, usually multiple fills. Until you do finally reach that point, you're stuck relying on will-power.

-If you're making good food choices and still not loosing, try playing with your calories. You CAN have too little calories. When your body doesn't have enough to sustain itself it creates a self-induced metabolic syndrome and your metabolism just stops burning off the excess. If you're under a 1000-1200 calories a day, making good food choices, and still not losing then try a slight increase for a week and see if that doesn't help kick start your metabolism again.

-Protein is crucial. Make sure you're getting at least 60-80g per day.

Thanks :)

Honestly, I don't do anything special. I just do exactly what my nutrionist recommended and track all my calories/nutrients on an app called "Lose It". 1000-1200 calories a day, at least 60g of Protein, no more than 125g of carbs, no more than 20% fat. That's it, nothing special or difficult. :)

Can you give me some examples of what you eat on a daily basis? And what about exercise? I want to work hard and do right so that I get the absolute FULL benefit of the band.

Breakfast: Protein Shake, same thing every day

Lunch: 1 piece of toasted whole grain bread, tuna with fat free mayo, and 1 piece of low fat American cheese melted over the top. 1 medium banana

Dinner: 4oz baked chicken breast marinated in BBQ Sauce, 1/4 cup green Beans, 1/4 cup homemade mashed potatoes

Snack: 1/3 cup low fat cottage cheese

Exercise is difficult because I have Multiple Sclerosis. My exercise consists of mostly walking and just trying to increase my daily activity as best I can.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
