wow, I got my first fill yesterday for 5cc and I thought that was a lot. Do they have you on any diet restrictions at all while the band adjusts? I am on liquids for another couple of hours. They like you to do 24 hour liquids after any adjustment.

Wow that is alot. I am eight weeks post op and got my first fill two weeks ago which was only 2.5cc in a 10cc band. My next fill isn't for another two weeks. Why so much for your first fill?

Just got my first fill this morning and only got 2 cc's put in! Wish my dr. Was a little more aggressive, but I get his trepidation!

I got my first fill at 3 months. My PA offered me the option of 5cc or less, I opted for 3 and that was great for about 6 months, when I had my second fill of .5cc. That was 15 months ago and I feel like I'm in a good place. My personal opinion is that less is better and aggressive fills can cause a lot of issues.

Wow Ramona. It's amazing that you haven't need a fill until now. Wonder if your doc filled you when they placed your band?

I'm 6 weeks postop and I can eat like there's no band in there. Hungry all the time. :(

I'll get my second fill in two weeks. They put 1.5 cc in my 10 cc band the first fill. Which compared to most of you, that's not a lot. I get it, I really don't want to be too tight.

I had my first fill today as well. He removed what the surgeon put in and put in 5cc. I am on liquids for 3 days, mushy for 3 days and then regular food. It was totally painless. I am almost 7 weeks post op and have lost 26 pounds. I am starting to see the difference and excited about the next few months. 53 more pounds to go.

I just had my first fill yesterday and my doctor put in 2.8cc in an 11cc band. I'm hoping also that I have a little more restriction with this fill because I was able to eat almost anything before the fill. I am on liquids for two days and then mushies for five days. He said I could come back in 6 weeks for another fill.

My doctor told me to only come back if I find I find myself gettig hungry too soon or if my weightloss has stopped.

That is a lot of fill for your 1st time. I guess your surgeon is pretty agressive. Just listen to your body, if you are having trouble eating or keeping food down see your surgeon for a slight unfill. I have 5 cc in a 10 cc band and am 2 1/2 years out. That is all my badn and body can stand. Best wishes.Karen

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
