I am battling trying not to over eat. I found it a neccssary for me to eat Breakfast. Can i eat a veggie omlete without feeling bad. During the day i am really restricted and i dont really eat. I work in the mornings i have to be up for work at 5:30am but around 7:30am i am starving. I normally drink a Protein Shake in the morning but i find myself hungry around that time. can someone please help me with this situation. my surgery was on 4/25/12.

Ask your Dr. You don't want to mess up and then find he has to do open surgery instead of laprascopic. Also if you can't stick to what you should be doing now then how will you cope after the surgery when it is even more important?

Well maybe you didnt understand me because like i said i had my surgery on 4/25/2012. I have been following my doctors orders but i find myself really hungry in the mornings. I know i can eat eggs but i just wanted to know can i eat an omlete (veggie). The question not can i stick to the plan because i have been sticking to the plan.

Another thing is that my doctor will not tell me anything about nutrition. he wants me to pay a nutritionist $80 everytime i have a question about food items. I really dont think that is fair but hey. But most of my advice come from this website because i refuse to pay $80 everytime i need to speak to the nutritionist. My first visit with the nutritionist was $140. I cant afford paying a nutritionist every other week. So with that being said i really dont have a direct diet that was given to me i am just going with the flow of everything. But i stay within the guidelines with my ounces of food intake.

I kept wondering what that last post was talking about too........ to funny!

I also had my surgery on 4/25/12 and three days ago I had my first omlette.

As long as it is health and you are within the guidelines, go for it.

We can eat eggs, veggies and cheese so I say cook them together and have an omlette.

Oh, I wouldn't pay $80.00 just to ask questions!! LOL! Oh, btw your title says surgery date 5-25-12 and that's why Elcee thought you was on your pre-surgery diet...I think eggs are a good source of Protein for breakfast so you should be okay. You can eat a Protein Bar after your shake.< /p>

follow whatever the Dr gave you as a transition plan. I was on liquids two weeks, purees one week, mushies one week, and then slow reintroduction of real food as per my nutritionist.

my insurance covers WLS but not the dietician, but I pay the price anyways because it is invaluable. I would recommend writing up a list of questions about the food stages and what you should eat in the future. The nutritionist will be the one to give you food plans, not the Dr.

Omelettes should be good. At a month out I was given the ok for regular food and told to be cautious when trying anything knew...and chew, chew, chew.

I found that they gave me heart burn....never did before surgery, so I started using egg whites instead (never thought I would like them, but I did).....they work much better.....I usually add turkey sausage and bacon bits along with spinach, pepers and onions, mushrooms and a little low fat cheese.........I can make the whole thing for around 150 calories/4 fats/2carbs/17 Protein holds me until late afternoon.

According to my doctor and NP omlettes with veggies are great. Just don't use butter and go light on the cheese. I had one yesterday morning with onions, peppers, broccoli and a little shredded chicken I has leftover. I left out the cheese and topped it with a little fresh salsa I made. It's full of Protein and a little over 200 calories with 2 eggs.< /p>

I can tell you what I have for breakfast. For work I put the contents in small baggies and carry them with me until I want to eat (I used to leave my house at 7 so was'nt hungry had an hour drive and would eat breakfast at like 9). Individual container of Chobani Greek yogurt 0 or 2% with fruit. Baggie 1 half a scoop vanilla whey isolate, 2 tsp unflavored benefiber, splendra to taste. Baggie 2, 1-2 Protein scoops of Kashi Go Lean High Protein Cereal, couple walnuts. It mixes better if you do Baggie 1 and then add in Baggie 2. Depending on whether you add walnuts about 300 cals and 25-28 g of protein. Walnuts do have fat but it's a good fat. Adding the Protein Powder makes a thicker substance.

I made omlets with egg whites only due to my cholesterol problems. I second using salsa. Low fat laughing cow cheese is easily spread on egg whites as well.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
