Hi ladies! Hope you all had a good day. I am not feeling too hot as I woke up with a MAJOR earache. It literally feels like I am being stabbed in the ear... It hurts to chew.. I'm hoping this is just a normal ear infection :/

Going for my fill on Tuesday.

Whymomwhy - Thanks for the reassurance. Your new pic looks great btw. Skinny Minnie!

Jenbass - You are so right. The emotional issues are hard. I have been thinking about moving a lot lately but I know I need to get more comfortable in my bandster lifestyle and work through some issues first. Seems that I always get in my own way. Anyway that's awesome about support group!! One of my weight loss goals is to become a fitness instructor, I love zumba. Good for you for trying something new!!

Breakfast - 5oz Chobani

lunch - 3oz sirloin (took me FOREVER to chew), 1 tbsp BBQ Sauce, 1 grilled pita wedge

dinner - 6oz raspberry Chobani with 1/8c Fiber granola

Water

No exercise today

Happy Monday All!

Here's to a great day to a new week. Saturday I'm going on a family beach vacation so this week needs to be a good one. I think I need to exercise first thing this morning so it doesn't take a back seat to everything else today.

Great eating yesterday, Natalie!

Thanks Jen! Great plan to still stick to the program but be able to enjoy the vacation.

Well my earache has gotten really really bad. I cannot hear out of the left ear at all now.. It constantly pops and the oressure is horrible. It is painful to chew or move that side of my face at all. So, I am going to just do liquids today. Water, Gatorade, tea and maybe yogurt. Heading to Urgent Care now.

Thanks Jen. Turns out it is swimmer's ear. The pain is awful but they prescribed me antibiotics, drops, and Vicodin. My left ear is swollen totally shut so they're keeping it open with a wick, which absorbs the ear drops. Can't hear out of it still. Eating hurts so much and my glands are swollen. Hopefully it will be better in a few days.

Going in for fill in the morning. To be honest I love the amount I have in my band now so don't feel I need a fill, but we will see. Hoping I've hit the 100 lbs lost mark.

Today:

No exercise

Water

Gatorade

4oz chicken noodle Soup

Keep it up everyone!

Did not sleep more than an hour. I can only compare the pain to being stabbed in both ears, very sharp and constant. I have been up crying all night and this morning because I've never experienced pain this bad. I took 2 more Vicodin out of desperation which is dulling the pain from a 9 down to probably a 7. My mom is taking me to the ER shortly.

I am also upset because my fill is in 6 hours and I do not want to miss an appointment. appreciate any prayers and positive thoughts you guys may have.

Thank you for the prayers. At the visit today the Dr said i have a more severe infection than they thought and that it has spread to both ears. She had me do a blood draw and get scheduled to see an ENT specialist on Thursday just as a precaution. She put me on 2 more aggressive medications and doubled my pain med. I still can't hear or chew, but the pain is less sharp. hoping to get sleep tonight.

I feel like a crappy bandster, not exercising or eating Protein :/ rescheduled fill for tomorrow.

Today -

8oz gatorade

Water

8oz orange juice

4oz mashed potatoes with gravy

4oz frozen yogurt

Hoping to be able to chew again in a couple days

Thank you. I know I need to be patient and follow doctors orders. All these meds on an empty stomach are making me very queasy. I was able to get some mint tea and Soup down (just the broth and noodles, too hard to chew chicken) and my sister is bringing me OJ. I had to cancel my fill today and next opening is Sept 26. I hate that I can't exercise or eat my normal foods til this infection is gone. I do not feel its getting any better but the ENT dr will tell me tomorrow.

How did your fill go? You guys are doing great.

Hi all. Almost Friday! I went to ENT doctor today who said my infection is slowly but surely clearing up. She assured me severe pain IS normal for what I have but that it will clear up within 5 days. Night time and morning is when pain is worse, bur daytime today it was only moderate. I was able to get down some soft foods with only minor discomfort.

I feel like I am not doing my best as a bandster right now. I've been drinking juice just to consume enough calories in a day (tough when you can't chew). I am doped up on pain medicine which makes me drowsy. I'm not up to exercising.. Chewing is really tough so I'm not chewing my food down as well as I should. I do not feel physically healthy right now when I can't work out or eat meat, fresh fruits and veggies. I am consipated, my saliva is super thick... Just Ugh!!!!!!! My hope is that I will feel ok by Monday so I can hit the grocery store and start fresh.

Breakfast - hot tea

lunch - 4oz chicken chili, 2 crackers

snack - 8oz bolt house berry juice, 8oz milk

dinner - 2oz fish, 2oz shredded tky, 2oz potato

TGIF!

My pity party is over. I'm sorry everyone had to listen to me. Lol. I still can't hear very well but the pain has lightened significantly. I was able to have 3 real meals today. Made a meal plan for next week to get back on track with.

I wanted to get you guys opinions on this. I've been craving a chipotle chicken burrito really badly for probably two weeks. I've resisted it. Drove by a chipotle today and never went in. I am wondering if just getting the burrito next week (if I plan for it) is it ok. I wanna have self control but i dont wanna deprive. Obviously i would only be able to eat 1/3 or so and save rest for another day. What would you do?

Breakfast - 4oz yogurt

lunch - 4oz chicken noodle Soup, 2 saltines

dinner - wheat tortilla with Tomato sauce, ground turkey and peppers

Snacks - 2/3 banana, Water, 4oz OJ

Breakfast - 4oz oatmeal with skim milk

snack - 4oz orange juice, meds, Water

lunch - ground turkey pita, 2oz applesauce

snack - 8oz milk

dinner - 2 saltines, 4oz chicken noodle

8oz passion fruit juice

Again.. My tummy feels weird. I was very tight this morning and afternoon. It is sore at my port/large incision area. Gonna call my dr and see if I can get squeezed in soon just to reassure me my port is ok.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
