Am 4 days post op, and had a bout of nausea. I had stomach gas pains, so I took some gas ex and use a heating pad. Tried a few sips of hot tea so I went to lay down. All of a sudden it was like a felt liquid moving in my stomach and I had the feeling like I was going to throw up. Thankfully I had some zofran and had my husband give me an IM injection.( had it from a dr friend that gave some to me about a year ago). What have others done for nausa in the post op time?

Some surgeons send home anti-nausea meds. I didn't have a problem. You could use pepto or give your surgeon a call and ask for a prescription to be called into your pharmacy.

I have some anti nausea medicine on hand, I think it is promethazine. I was sick last fall and mentioned my naseau and that I have lapband to the Urgent Care doc and they didn't hesitate a second and told me to take it to prevent throwing up. I would definately call your doc for something to make you feel better. Just beware and don't take it if you have to go anywhere.....it knocks me out cold :) Good luck!

I'm 13 months out now.......but in the beginning I had lots of nausea. I was so scared of getting sick/vomiting. It eventually went away, but I believe that was my hunger feeling returning, it was just in the form of nausea, much different then what It use to. Be patient & don't be so hard on yourself......look @ the big picture. When I started this process I was 266.8 this morning I was 199.4. My son turned10 in Feb when I found out I was preggers I was 204 so this is least I've weighed in a decade!

I was more scared about "popping " the sutures where the stomach is stitched over the band. Feel better know, but boy do I feel full. liquids going down good. I think what made me feel so full and icky was the Protein Shake I had around 4pm. I didn't even drink it all, but I knew I needed to get some Protein in. Congrats on e weight loss!

Concern over the stitches is valid. If the nausea continues, definitely call your doc for something.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
