Too Tight?? Idk! Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi Peeps,

I got my second fill Monday, and it kind of sucks with the band right now. Sometimes I don't even know how I feel...

Am I hungry, full, stuck, tight? The sensations are so different. I was banded 3/23. I'm at 5.5 ccs.

So it seems like I am hungry all day. I am eating within the guidelines I feel, and I have been losing weight as well. Since Pre-op I have lost about 26 lbs.

The problem now is that especially at night when I lay down (flat is the worst). I have this awful tightness in the back of my throat (near my trachea) I don't think it's heartburn or reflux. It's almost as if my band pulls down on my esophogus. I've had this feeling most nights and lying on my side seems to help. Standing up almost always relieves it, but this morning, it's even worse. It's like I can hardly swallow. The feeling has gotten worse since the second fill. I mentioned this feeling and the doc thought it might be a mucus plug from drainage that forms at night. She suggested taking an expectorant and drinking ward liquids before bed to loosen it which I have to still try. I'm eating within two hours before bedtime, so maybe that's it?

I need help or any input, please!! Has anyone ever had this feeling?

Thank you THank you!!

I would suggest you contact your surgeon again...5.5 ccs IMO is abit much for some who was banded the end of march. I'm 15 mts post op and only at 7ccs. Good Luck

i experienced this tightness as well..it formed two weeks ago when i got a cold and seemed to linger...i am finally getting some relief...it began with very thick phlegm...it didn't hurt and i never had problems swallowing but it was annoying...also had two stuck episodes during this period as it seemed to get tighter at night...i increased my liquids...seems to be getting better...good luck...as far as how much Fluid is in your band this number seems to be very subjective....there are many here who have posted they had 5 cc either added at surgery or shortly after...what size is your band...my husband got 4.5 on his first fill and his band is 14cc...he still has little restriction...i think it really is subjective...check with your doc if it persists...

I agree, you sound a little too tight, maybe get .5 cc removed, bet it makes a lot of difference. Goodluck. Karen

I was banded 3/22 and I had my first fill Wednesday and the doctor put in 3cc's. I agree with the rest, contact your surgeon. Good luck to you!

Thanks for all of the input! It really helps to hear from people who get it!

I have a 10 cc band. I have allergies and was sick a few weeks ago. So some is probably mucus too. I'm thinking I will take all the advice. Make sure I eat earlier, and wa:)it until I lay down at least 3 hours. Increase my Fluid intake, and maybe have a bit removed. Hopefully I will find that lucky green zone!

:)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
