Lap Band With Gastric Plication

Recommended Posts

I had the band with plication apr 2nd. I'm down 20lbs! Im not gonna lie' date=' my recovery was pretty tough the first 2 weeks but I feel great now! Nausea was the worst, but everyone is different. I skipped my first fill caz I didn't need it caz the plication is plenty of restriction. It's crazy how little it takes to get full now. My first fill is Monday and I'm still not sure if I need one. I think everyone should do the plication, weight loss is faster and it prevents from slips ;)) feel free to ask me any questions[/quote']

Oh so nice to find u! How long were you on the soft diet? 20 pounds in a month is amazing! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for sharing. I'm excited about getting the plication. I agree everyone should get thus procedure instead of doing the others. I've learned it's reversible and prevents a lot of complications with the band. And most importantly if you follow your dr.'s orders you lose more weight. I'm excited my surgery is May 18. I look forward to hearing about your success!

Great job! It's so inspiring to read good posts! Did your insurance company cover the banding with plication?

I had plication as well and it HURT! Ugh! Luckily, I was able to tolerate taking Zofran to keep away my nausea. On day two, I honestly thought what have I done! I could feel the pain in my stomach. BUT it did get better and while I sometimes still have band pain, I don't have any more plication pain. It was really, really hard to get in enough fluids though. It would take me an hour to get my Lortab, Ibuprofen, and Zofran down because I was afraid of the pain. I also didn't think I would ever be able to eat any amount of food again. It was a rough couple of days. I am 10 days out and feeling much better. We'll see how much plication helps with losing weight. Maybe your doctor can give you some additional meds for nausea? I also slept a lot to get rid of my nausea. Good luck.

I'm struggling on the pre op diet. I'm scheduled to have the band with plication on May 8th. What were you ladies required to do for pre op diets?

I hope I haven't screwed up my recovery. My surgeon required 2 wks on low fat diet with at least 2 Protein shakes per day. 48hrs before surgery no solids.

My surgeon told me that the plication didn't have a billable code yet, and he couldn't bill for it in addition to the surgery. The surgery itself was covered at 100% - I believe I have a $250 hospital admission copay since I had to stay an additional day (instead of the $150 hospital services copay it would've been if I had been outpatient/overnight), but I haven't received any bills yet. BCBS of MA's website sucks and I can't really view my benefits information. I pulled my EOBs, but the surgery claim hasn't been processed through yet. We'll see.

Are there certain requirements to do the plication? A certain BMI? I just emailed my surgeon to see if I'm eligible.

I am having the Banded Plication, as soon as my insurance is approved. I originally wanted the sleeve but my insurance requires 50 BMI so this was an option, after discussing it with my surgeon I found out the success rate of loss is similar to bypass... But due the band you will have better long term success than any of the other surgeries... Very excited and yes he said its just making the sleeve during the surgery.. Not a lot of extra time..

I am worried about the pain after... Hoping you all are feeling better!

I'm just wondering if they can do the band with plication in single incision? I've been doing a lot of research and plication seems like its worth it despite a little longer recovery time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
