Members Being Banded In March 06

Recommended Posts

I was banded yesterday morning!!!! Came home this morning!!! I'm doing GREAT!! No nausea...no shoulder gas pain....up and about (slowly). Drinking fine Dr. said I was a model patient.

Now if I could pass this other gas...lol...I would feel much better!!!

My prayer for everyone with upcoming surgery is that they do as well as I am doing!!!!

you go stocky!!! you are going to do great. i am going for my first fill on 3/23/2006 and i am really looking forward to it. i can still eat way too much...even though i don't. i have lost 10 lbs and my surgeon tells me i will lose much more after my first fill. i hope so ...i keep reading these stories about people losing 20 and 30+lbs the 1st week and i get really discouraged. why is it some people lose so much before the 1st fill ? anyone out there with some answers?

Water weight would be my guess. I have to just remind myself that I knew the lap band was the slower more healthy route. I don't think I really want to lose 20-30 lbs the first week anyway. No one outside my close family knows I did this, so I would have a lot more questions to answer.

Remember Slow and Steady!

Done on March 7th, Dr. Aviv Ben-Meir, St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland. Had a rough start with some complications, but everything is smooth sailing now. No matter what, it's worth it.

I am 19lbs down 22 days in. I was banded on 3/4/2006 by Dr. Kuri in Mexico. His new hospital was the cleanest nicest hospital I have ever seen. I think I got much better care than I ever have in the states.

I have just had lapband on friday, March 24 - I am 65 pounds overweight, and hope to lose all by Christmas. Feel great, very very sore though. Told me to be on liquids for 2 weeks. Having no problem with that, when I start getting hungry, I drink a little bit, or sip some broth, and it satisfies me. Still getting rid of gas on my stomach, but not a bit of nausea. Praise the Lord!

I am leaving tonight for Mexico, my surgery date is Friday the 31st. I hope all goes well, I am more than a little nervous and I'd appreciate positive thoughts. My sister is coming with me but she has to leave Saturday. Hoping I could get through the clear liquid stage. What kind of liquids has helped everyone else get through that first week I wonder? I love this site, I've learned so much, lurking, but now I am officially posting. I hope everyone's March surgery is a rousing success!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
