Do you guys not love me?

Tell me what the difference is PUHLEASE??? between an 18M and a 18W???????????

The difference is basically the cut of the pants. Most designers start with a sewing form and go up or down depending upon typical body measurements. I read somewhere that Misses sizes start with a size 8 form and Women's/Plus sizes start with a size 12 form. Women's/Plus size pants are cut with a little extra room in the mid-section and thighs. With that said, if you can fit into an 16W, you can most likely fit into a 18M.

I hope this helps.

Hi ya'll,

Sorry I'm late posting, I have run late alot lately. Had a tough week with swelling. On Sunday I was up 13 lbs, thats a lot of water! I take a Water pill daily, but it took days to go away, as of yesterday I was still up 2 lbs. I was so bummed, so I desided to weight this morning & I had lost that 2 plus 1.5 more. Thank goodness, I had been really good for the most part, even with 2 parties last weekend with tons of great food, but I do admit I really have a problem with salt, it what I love & crave & I pay for it every time.

Have a great weekend everyone, TGIFriday!

Thank you everyone for the prayers and well wishes!

P'nut...I pop in and read what is going on when I need a moment of sanity  (scary I know that this is where I come for sanity..hehe)

We are hanging in there. It is amazing how one word "CANCER" can compltely turn your world upside down. A book I am reading says that cancer is one of the only words that you see in all capital letters. No matter how you say it, word it, or sugar coat it, cancer is a word that defines complete change in how you view life, it is like being sucked into a vaccum and wanting to scream and yell and you can't even hear your own voice. If that is what is going on in my head I can't even imagine what Duke has mulling around in his.

I am having major issues with taking on a new role that I NEVER thought would be mine....I am now the protector, the emotional rock, the one that holds it all together. I am not enjoying it! I want so badly to put my head on his chest and just cry like I normally would. And, right now I can't, figuratively and litterally (he has a breast bone to pubic incision that isn't healing well). When I get upset about something I can see the look in his eyes and it is one of guilt, as if this is his fault, like he did something wrong. I have told him it's not like you woke up 2 weeks ago and said "I think I'll go get cancer, that sounds fun".

I'm seriously thinking about going to my doc and getting anti-depressants to try and help keep my head on straight. The last thing my family needs right now is for mom to completely lose it!

Thank you for letting me vent!

Skye

Gteetings Gone for Gooders ;)

Just so you all know, I've been working stupidly large amounts of hours on a new and difficult work project and have been more than pooped by the time I get home.

I am checking in now and again and P'Nut keeps me in the loop on how everyone is doing. Looks like some of our bunch have been having some rough times, and my thoughts are with you.

I am also proud to see that no one needs a fish slap! Excellent work everyone.

I squeezed into a size 18M this morning... didn't wear them due to the large overhanging of skin/fat/junk but what the HECK is the difference between a 18M and a 18W? I know one is Misses and one is Womans... but seriously... is a 18M more like a 16W? Someone PUHLEASE explain!!! I know you know!

Hey Gurly,

It is so different for each one of us. I think the designer plays a factor in the clothing size.

For me, I am a 14W in blouses, XL in skirts but a regular 16 or 2 piece suit is to big, but a 14 is not big enough (properly because of hips and butt). Jeans I am a regular 18 which is awesome to me because I have always worn a bigger size in jeans because of the hips & butt factor.

I believe a 18M is somewhat like a 16W. The inches are always a little more in woman clothes so I am sure you are right about that one. Just look at some of the catelogs on line, they give measurements for plus and regular sizes.

Congrats on your accomplishments!

I have struggled with my weight since I was 13 years old. I was diagnosed with a 'slipped disk' and it has since turned into six herniated disks through the years. I also have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia recently. Both of these conditions make it difficult, if not downright impossible to exercise consistently, if at all. Some days I am lucky I can walk and get through the day without major pain sending me to bed to rest. I went from a thin pre-teen and entered high school weighing 117 pounds, to graduating at 180 pounds and getting married the first time at this weight. As my body has deteriorated the weight has just poured on.

So I started researching lap band last summer, almost a year ago! I have gathered up a ton of information and know that it is one surgery I want and need. I planned to have the surgery done in January but I also have returned to college. I decided to wait until this summer so that I could focus on 'me' and not on my classwork. The homework is killing me as I just changed my major to education.

I have been with my sweetie for almost 6 years now - he moved from TX to be with me. I have two grown kids, 22 and 25; and he has five kids, two who are not grown and I have the pleasure to raise! they are 8 and 16 years old. I am blessed to have such a wonderful family and they are extremely supportive when it comes to anything I do. Having been through two marriages and divorces I have greeted this wonderful man with open arms! He was well worth waiting for!

My oldest daughter convinced me to go back to school and it has been a great experience! My son bought his own house at 21 years of age and is content in his work. Need I say we are a busy family with three children in other states and four children with us, or nearby.

I'm excited about having the surgery and of course almost anxious. I have read almost every thread on this board and have my concerns. But after I read all of the support and encouragement that each of you have given to others on the board, I am ready! I know that I have a lap band family available to me whenever I need them! THAT is reason enough to embrace the surgery.

Having the surgery will allow me to move around better and stop taking quite a bit of medication that I just hate taking. I feel like my life evolves around medication and pain treatments and I want it to end. I am 48 years old but mentally feel about 30! Physically I feel like I am at least 80 years old. I figure it can't hurt to have the surgery and see if things can't improve just a bit for me physically.

Currently, I am at an all time high of 275, and I am only 5'4. I have never weighed this much and hate being at this weight. I have now also been diagnosed as diabetic, though I have actually gotten my sugars completely under control with medication. I can't wait to have my sugar at a non-diabetic level without medication. I know surgery can do that for me! I want to lose quite a bit of weight and have concerns as to whether I can more easily exercise as I lose weight. I am afraid of not losing weight even with the surgery, if I can't exercise. What then? I plan to get down to my correct weight of 140. If I get somewhere 'near' that I will be thrilled. Here's to Lap Band surgery! I plan to have my first contact with the place doing my surgery in April or May, depending on schoolwork. I want the summer off from school to recuperate.

So that's me and my life in a nutshell. I can't tell you how relieved I am to finally have made the decision to have the surgery, knowing there is such a great group of people ready to support me here! So thank you in advance.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
