Banded 2008, Starting Over & Ready For Change.

I agree with adorkbl...the fact that you have only gained 15 pounds is remarkable!! And the fact that you are taking action now and not letting it get out of controll again is something to be proud of. You are successful!! You KNOW what you need to do and it sounds like you are making a plan and getting started. Now just enlist a few people to hold you accountable and you will be on your way.!!

I am glad to hear you are headed back to the surgeon..Im sure a fill will help things out a lot. Just keep plugged into the site and you are going to see the 140's in no time.

Yay for all of us re-committers!!! I know that's not a real word, but I'm using it anyway. :P I, too, am a re-committer. I was banded in Jan of 2011. I didn't even lose 20lbs. And then gained more weight. It's been a smidge over a month since I re-committed and I've lost ruffly 10lbs. And I'm learning to work with my band. I now realize that when my pouch isn't stretched out, I can only eat around a cup to s cup and a half of food. And I'm learning a lot from this site. It's been pretty exciting.

Next week I'm making an apt. to see my doc. I'd been too embarrassed to go see him, but I've lost some weight so now I don't feel as bad. Plus, I have issues with my port, so it's probably going to have to be moved. Sucks, but I'm tired of being in pain.

So, anyway, I said all that to say.....way to go ladies!!!! We can do this!!!!! :D

Congrats to everyone that is getting back on track. I'm startint to do the same. I was banded in '09 and have lost around 50 lbs. I've been there a year now so it's time to start over and take control again. You all have inspired me. Thank you!

Miss A: congrats on the 10 pounds. I have lost 10 also in the last month, just from changing my diet. Now it is time to get my bootay in gear and get moving.

Beckn: Swimming is a great exercise. It hit the triple digits here in Tucson and I am looking forward to usin our pool for some exercise. I love exercise that doesn't feel like exercise!!!

Yes, I know what is needed and now I have my mind set to do it. I am looking forward to hearing from you and hope I can be an inspiration to you as well.....we are in this together!! Also, does anyone know how to reset my PIN on the tracker so I can update it.

Wow! Lots of people joining me in my renewed effort. Thanks for all of the awesome input.

I got my fill today!! YAY!! I went from empty to 4 cc's in a 13 cc band. My sweet spot during my last attempt was right around 5.5, so I am very thankful that my doc was willing to do such an aggressive fill since he was working under flouro.

On an unhappy note, I got a Migraine shortly after getting my fill so the only thing I've been able to tolerate this evening is a little bit of tea. It finally lifted a bit ago (6 hours later)... can't stomach a Protein shake at this time of night, so am going to try 2oz of watered down applesauce.

I copied the food journal that was in the book they gave me and will fax those to my dietitian a couple of times a week. I've NEVER had that type of support in the 3 years that I've been banded.

Let's do this!! WOOT!!

I'm not sure if you can reset it, but you can just go to www.tickerfactory.com and make a new one, then copy the computer language on the last page that says bbd (blackboard). then paste it under your signature (located on the settings page)

hope that helps

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
