How Long Did It Take You To Get Insurance Approval?

Recommended Posts

I had to move my surgery up a couple of weeks to accomadate my job and I have about another week until I'm done with my testing but my surgery is May 15th so I just was wondering what the average time is it takes to get insurance approval?

most insurances require a 6 month doctor supervised diet plan where you have to go every month and weigh in and then they will approve or maybe not then either??? They are all different...maybe you have that all completed ...then it shouldnt take long at all...Good Luck to you....I just am done with my 4th month weigh in today so hoping they will approve in 2 months and counting!!!!

took me a week for my insurance. I did a supervised diet with a doctor about 6 or 7 yrs prier. that counted as my supervised doctor diet...

It took me two weeks. I was not required to have any supervised dieting, just the usual BMI requirements, a letter from Dr, and a list of all diets I have tried over the years.

I think it depends on the surgeon.Mine requires supervised dieting, I do know other surgeons that don't. I went thru 2 surgeons before I had mine done.the first one didn't required supervised dieting

My insurance did not require 6 month supervision, by law insurance companies have 30 days to review, my insurance coordinator said if they take long is a good sign because a denial letter is within a heartbeat. I am still waiting for my approval. Almost 2 weeks!

They submitted my paperwork to the insurance on Tuesday afternoon and I received a call at 11:30 Wednesday morning saying I was approved.

It was only 3 days for me. I was originally told it would take up to 2 weeks. They submitted on Monday and I was approved by Wednesday afternoon. Good luck, I I hope you get approval quickly.

My insurance told me that I wouldn't know anything for at least 30 days. But I called them 14 days later and I was already approved, they said I was approved 7 days after it was turned in. So I would just call them once a week or so to see if they have any updates. I know they say it takes a certain amount of days but if I didn't call I probably would have waited that full 30 days.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
