Trouble Getting In The Water!

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery on March 20, and as I progress to more normal foods I've had trouble getting in enough Water. I always drank with my meals prior to this so it's an adjustment.

Yesterday I was at church on and off all day, and didn't drink nearly enough by the time i waited 30 min before and after meals Guess I will have to take Water with me everywhere. Anyone else have this issue?

YES!!! I am lucky to get in a bottle of Water in all day. I am used to drinking 7-10 a day. I am only 6 days Post Op...but I am worried about dehydrating. I try to sip all day...but there really isn't enough hours in a day to to sip 64 ounces. I would love to hear about what others are doing.

YES! I feel the same way. I think all I'm doing is sipping Water all day. I usually get about 40 - 50 oz but I have to really keep it on my mind so I don't fall short. Following the no water 30 min before a meal and no water 90 min after a meal is REALLY hard.

This is me. Yesterday I had that "burning feeling" when I peed. Tmi I know. But I am positive it was because of not enough Water. Today I feel better but I have really been concentrating on it.

My dr. has me on the 30/30 so it isn't has hard.. I wake up have a tea then wait 30 then have brk, then wait 30 and drink and drink, have my Protein shake at noon, then drink more, then wait 30 have lunch at 2 and wait again, and so on.... I have always drunk a lot, so drinking isn't hard for me but getting plain Water in is and the waiting before and after meals.. I have a problem with my airway ( smaller then most ) so I need Water to help with food, but I'm learning to take smaller bites and chewing chewing chewing.. It's not always easy, but it has to be done or I choke..

I hate hate hate plain water, so I try and have it after I excercise and when my hubby and I go out we always take drinks with us, so I just take water.. rest of the time it's crytal light or Decaf tea.. I do have just 8oz of reg tea in the morning, though

You do have to take Water everywhere eneb in church. Always have one stashed in the car too. At the beginning i would count off the 8oz on a list. Set an alarm on your phone. After a while it will become second nature. It will also be helpful to plan the time you eat so you can stick the drinking in. I usually drink while driving home. I used to drink going into to work too.

Don't obsess over it

I'll be honest. I don't get nearly enough liquids in a day let alone the Water they say you are suppose to. Don't know if that is a problem, but I seem to be doing fine with it.

I don't get nearly enough Water in during the day and I know it. I try, I really do, but I'm lucky if I get 36oz a day in plus some diet iced tea.

Not eating during meals and being unable to drink for an hour after eating makes it very difficult.

I try to start my morning out with a bottle of Water on the way to drop my kids off at daycare and preschool. If I do get that bottle in I am able to get it all in during the day, but if I forget to grab a bottle on the way out the door I seem to not get it all in during the day. In the first weeks after surgery I would forget to drink because you have to wait so long but now I just have make a point get it in.

YES!!!! This is hard because I use to drink Water like I am going crazy but now I have to sip and it is hard. So every 30 minutes, I try to consume at least 4 ounces of water with 8 ounces in an hour. Did I add that I have to get in 2 ounces of Protein in every hour. The hard part is that I don't get a fill for 6 weeks since I am only 7 days post op.

Since I am on liquids for another week, and was on the same diet 2 weeks prior to my surgery, I try this approach. I get up, drink my Protein Shake, then in between Breakfast shake and lunch shake, I try and drink between 20 and 30 oz of Water. then again between lunch and dinner shake. Then anything after dinner is like bonus water. I find that having a water container that has between 20 and 30 oz of water helps to keep track of your intake throughout the day.

You MUST get your Water in or your weight loss will stall as your body will retain water thinking its dehydrated. I try to chug a glass of water about 20 mins before I eat and then I literally count down about 45-60 mins after each meal and I drink more until its time for me to eat again.

I bought a special cup to take with me everywhere, it holds 16 ounces. It’s portable and fits in my car cup holder. I know if I get 4 of those down a day them I’m okay. I also can mix the Crystal Light packets in my cup and it makes it so much easier to get all my Water in when it tastes good. I’m two weeks post op and have noticed on the days that I don’t get my water in I start to feel lightheaded or breakout into a cold sweat. Do what you have to do to get that water in, it also helps with digestion.

It is easier to get your Water if you drink it out of a wide mouth container, rather than straight from the water bottle.< /p>

I get in 32 oz everyday at the gym alone each day, although I'm probably sweating that all out at the same time.

But that's ok, keeps the system flushed out I guess.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
