Tummy Tuck And Port

Recommended Posts

How is your port protected during a TT? My PS said I did not need to be unfilled, which was my burning question, but now that I'm home and looking at the surgical info and trying to figure out how the port is protected given the fat around the port area is separated from the abdominal wall. I may just be confused!! if anyone knows I'd appreciate your feedback.

If they arent going to move it it wont be separated from the abdominal wall, but if the do, there's nothing particulaly complex about that. My ps has told me hell move it and in The process take the back off it, which reduces the pofile, and my lapband surgeon had no problem with that nor did he think it necessary to be unfilled.

Your port is on your breast bone? May I ask why they put it there? Is that a typical practice some surgeons do?

I know, that breastbone position seems so odd to me - I am so bony there, there's a scant fraction of a millimetre thickness of skin and no fat at all on my breastbone, cant see how in the world my port wouldnt look like an alien baby there- its obvious enough on my stomach.

My TT is on Tuesday, I'm getting REALLY nervous. I'm having bilateral inguinal hernia repair and some reconstruction around where my ileostomy was and my docs were so nice to me - figured i'd been through so much in the last two years - that between them, they've cooked up a full Tummy Tuck nearly completely covered by our public health system (not that I have an awful lot to tuck) just so i end up with all my surgery scars gone, and lose the sad frowny belly button. I"m very excited - but equally about fixing those hernias which have been giving me all sorts of trouble.

For me, my tummy looks very flat anyway, its just a bit 'loose' so it wont be a major shape changing sort of thing to me, but will make me feel really great in a bathing suit and eliminate that annoying little roll over the top of my jeans.

The breast bone position is fairly common in the UK it is stitched to the bone so there is very little chance of it moving or flipping ..

I never really see it there unless i have no clothes or a bra on.. :)

Its a breeze to do fills as all u have there is skin !

Have a speedy recovery Jachut and i really hope u do well !

That sounds pretty neat! It doesn't bug you to have it there on the bone like that?

Hope everything went good today Jachut.

I never notice it at all, i would imagine that u may have difficulty or feel it more if u wore underwire bra's as this may press on the port a little, i tend to wear sport bra's .. Since i lost a lot of weight the port is obviously more prominent now than it used to be .. not sure what place is best to be honest :) .. i just know i like mine where it is ...

Hope u had a good night Jachut ..

I had my TT done without an unfill which worried me greatly as I was only told that they would not unfill 5 mins before surgery having always been led to believe that any surgery would need an unfill. They also repositioned my portal which having lost weight was very prominent. Now it is nicely tucked away.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
