Gluttony Party Scheduled

Recommended Posts

I am 29 days away from surgery today. I haven't told many people, just my immediate family and two friends. On the 29th of this month, I have all my pre-op blood work and ECG to do, so I have to fast, as well as my pre-op doctors appointment.

Then I start my pre-op diet the next day, so I figured that there wouldn't be a better day to have a last big meal.

I have invited a bunch of my friends out for dinner at The Olive Garden, and I have just called it a gluttony party, but I think I am going to come out to all of them that night, about getting my band. And considering I may never be able to eat those darn tasty bread sticks again, I couldn't think of a better place to go.

I have 3 weeks of pre-op diet to do, so anyone have some guesses as to how much I might lose?

I know that this is a bit rambly, but I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

Enjoy your "last meal", lol. You will be able to eat at Olive Garden again, just very differently from how you can now. And yes, a lot of us have issues with bread so enjoy those breadsticks! Don't know how much you'll lose on the pre-op, depends how much you're starting at I guess. I didn't really have to do a pre-op diet.

It depends on what your pre op diet is. Mine was 2 weeks and it was 6 opti fast shakes a day and One Bar, I lost 15 pounds

Yum, sounds good to me. ditto what shauna said: You will be able to eat at Olive Garden again. The band never stops me from making bad food choices.

Enjoy your party :)

You won't necessarily have to give up Olive Garden breadsticks. I eat them occasionally. About 1/2 one with my bowl of chicken gnocci Soup (love that stuff). I haven't given up anything and I'm so close to goal I can taste it. I do confess I don't enjoy pizza anymore, but everything else (including bread, rice and pasta) is no problem for me. I could give them up and probably lose a little faster, but why? I enjoy them. If I wanted to give up certain foods, I would've gone on another diet instead of having lapband surgery.

No clue about the pre op diet. I didn't have to do one. I was told to eat normally until dinner the nite before and to make that light. I was on the liquid diet for 4 weeks tho afterward tho. And boy does that suck! But I did it and have lost more than 100 lbs in the past 2 yrs. Good luck to you! Enjoy your dinner!

Lmao! I had my last meal at olive garden too!!!!! I've since then gone back post op and let me tell you, I will NEVER eat the tour of Italy again! So NOT worth the carbs! I eat salad and calamari and sometimes stuffed mushrooms : ) I used to be able to have an appetizer, tour of Italy, and desert! I don't know how the hell I ate all of that!

I lost 15 lbs on my liquid diet. And I will admit, I cheated a couple times : ( but 15 lbs in 2 weeks is pretty awesome! Lol mostly all Water weight I'm sure....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
