Banded On March 20Th 2012

Recommended Posts

My nurse said cream Soups are ok, I was banded on the 20th. I am hungry, but 1/4 -1/2 cup of Soup holds me for hours. I

She said yogurt was ok too. I just can't seem to face another shake! I did make a small box of pudding with 2 scoops Protein. I have been mixing 2 tbsp of that with skim milk for a glass of chocolate milk. That seems to help break it up a bit.

They said I should be at 75 - 80 gr protein a day, and I am no where near that.

I'm jealous! I can't have yogurt or pudding for another 2weeks. Just true liquids(clears mostly) and Protein Shakes. Not sure why its so strict but I'm dying! 11lbs lost though! I am also nowhere near 70g protein... More like 40! Anyone nervous about returning to work?

I went to work today (6 days post-op). I had a hard time sitting in an office chair too. I was wishing for a recliner! I was slower walking around and slower getting up/down from chair than usual.

Lots of bands done on the 20th!! Seems like everyone has a different postop diet--I guess each physician/nutritionist have their own way of introducing foods. I was Clear liquids, 1 ounce every hour until today (although I did advance a little earlier). Full liquids, 2 ounces every hour with mushies--yogurt, thinned oatmeal, thinned grits for the next week, then I return to his office for specific diet.

Good luck to everyone! Love to read all the posts, they are so encouraging!

Ok. Seven days post op and I am hungry. Feels like real hunger. I'm on full liquids but I scarfed down a cup of hot and sour Soup I got from Chinese earlier. So tired of tasteless and chocolate flavored food! So I ate all the soup, even the veggies. Chewed really well and feel fine, don't plan on making a habit of this but is anyone else hungry???? I've lost ten pounds and hadn't been hungry up until today!

I don't know how to get through these next two weeks without eating

I work in an active restaurant and went back to work for a full day last Friday after being banded on the 20th. Granted, I scheduled extra people so if I was lagging behind it would not affect the restaurant. I found that my shoulder pain was terrible that day, but nothing else was too bad.

I had Monday off and only worked a partial day today due to a conference I went to for work (which is why I arranged to be banded on the 20th so I could squeeze every possible free day). Honestly, I am almost 100% back, other than my lifting restriction.

My abdominal muscles did feel sore today and yesterday, but no more port pains and no shoulder pain today. I was at a work conference all day yesterday sitting in a chair, so I think this is why my tummy is sore. I know my incisions were irritated yesterday after having clothing pushing on them all day.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
