I was so nervous about getting to the surgery center promptly at 6:00 am, I had a heck of a time falling asleep. So, when my alarm rang at 5:00 am I immediatle turned it off. Yes, right back to sleep. So, at 6:05 am I woke up. Darn it!!! I jumped in the shower, my hubby called day surgery and I made it there by 6:20. Can you stand it??? Everything else went fine but this was not how I wanted the day to start!

congratulations on your surgery! I actually purposefully stayed up really late last night and woke up early today (had to be there at 530) because I knew I would have problems sleeping otherwise.

are you having any gas pains?

Stephy- gas pains started today, not as bad as the port area discomfort. I am managing decent fluids and felt great after my shower. How are you doing today ?

I am actually feeling pretty good. I have been able to get my Protein shake in and drink about 10 oz of Water. I have some minimal gas pains that seem to go away with walking or burping. I will be taking a shower in a few to finish getting the iodine off my belly. I tried to wipe off most yesterday, but did not feel like a shower then.

My port area is good too, just sore getting up and down, as well as turning when I am sitting.

I am actually surprised I am feeling so good, since I have read that others feel like hell after.

I had my surgery on Tuesday as well. Today I feel much better. I'm not running laps or anything but am much better. One thing though: so far all I have eaten is Tomato Soup and been drinking Water. My stomach or intestines are gurgling and I've has 3 episodes of very loose stool/diarrhea. I think this is probably normal. Anyone else had this issue?

My nurse said today was the first I could have a Protein Shake. I see her tomorrow and am hopeful she'll say I can have Soup. I am getting about 50 oz fluids a day. My husband is a great support though he's kind of like the florence nightingale of a concentration camp! He has my post op directions memorized and is watching me like a hawk. Stay on the straight and narrow, march 20 was a wonderful day for surgery!!

Polyanna- I laughed so hard with your description of your husband. I can see mine doing the EXACT same thing. I just started my pre op liquid diet today and my son sweetly saw me eyeing his wheat thins and offered me some. My husband was all over it. Comical.

I had mine on Tuesday as well. The gurgling gass and stool is annoying but it's from the sugar free drinks. they have always done that to me. I have a large bruise covering almost all of my abdomen and a hematoma that hurts like hell from a small bleed at he port site. Dr said that will take 2 - 3 weeks to go away.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
