Great Snack Choices?

Recommended Posts

Another snack I like is sliced cucumbers with veggie dip that I make with plain Greek yogurt and a low sodium veggie dip packet.

2oz of dip = 5g Protein | 30 calories

Ingredients:

1 packet Kroger Party Dip Ranch (I used Kroger since it is cheaper)

17oz tub Fage Total 0% greek yogurt (I used 0% to save on calories)

I made the HB eggs with hummus a few days ago and I must say VERY TASTY! And VERY FILLING!

A co-worker looked in my container and said "what's that?" I told her and she actually said "yum" and "interesting." So it's not just for bariatrics anymore! :P

Plain Greek yogurt is like eating sour cream! 1) 2 % Greek Yogurt is not as sour as the 0%' date=' 2) For a snack I would add splendra which helps a lot. Also choose one with fruit it in that helps a lot. It dissolves so you don't get a grittiness (which I got with Truvia).

For Breakfast I have Chobani Greek yogurt (with fruit), non flavored benefiber, 1/2 scoop whey isolate vanilla Protein powder, and splendra. Mix well. I then add 1/4 cup high Protein Kashi Go Lean.

I am a fit of a Chobani flavor snob: my favorites Cherry, Apple Cinnamon, Raspberry, Pinapple, Peach.[/quote']

Im not sure where this will get posted cuz it keeps posting weird but I wanted to let ppl know about your dairy options. Dont over use dairy, it seems like many are. I did too in the begining but then I developed a lactose intolerance, n this is from the lapband. You also can can get kidney stones from too much dairy. Which apparently I did but must hv been microscopic because I felt nothing. Either or take my advice and limit. I know its an easy way to get protein but u will hate life if u get this problem. I can still have yogart thank god, some cant, but no milk just lactose milk an now only certain cheeses. Just a heads up because the pain is something you will never ever forget if you do become lactose intolerant and dont know it. But u will know its not gas pains.

Yesterday I chopped it up into a egg salad consistency. Scooped with wheat thins. Loved even more. Was nice to have the crunch factor.

I eat cottage cheese with a little bit of peaches cut off in it.my Dr said that was ok.Trust me that's a lot easy of trying to eat it plain.

I love so many of the ideas here! I'll have to try the hummus in hard boiled egg halves, sounds great!

I have Greek yogurts when I'm extra hungry or I have a Wasa cracker topped with tuna salad, soy Protein crisps ( I like the BBQ flavor), smoked almonds, a Protein Bar, Protein shake made into frozen smoothie in the blender, teriyaki flavored beef Jerky, cottage cheese, a cold piece of grilled chicken. Those are some off the top of my head.

BUT that being said, I happen to have a lapband doc that is hugely against snacking as a rule and would prefer I make one of those things a meal instead of a snack. He says I should rely on Protein shakes if I feel some true hunger between meals. I need to start living by that rule again, I have sadly been slipping where that rule is concerned.

Love this idea! My last binge that lead me to start over was a bag of chips and dip. So your suggestion would be a wonderful alternative. With no bingeing, of course.

Hummus filled hard boiled eggs sounds pretty good too.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
