Recommended Posts

I am having a lower body lift and inner thigh lift at the same time in June. No one has mentioned about unfilling my band...Did any of you had to unfill before plastic surgery?? I in no means want to unfill!! Just curious....

What doctor are you using for plastics?

I got an unfill for my lower body lift but not my BA, so I think it depends on the surgeon. Though I did get unfilled for my body lift, between the pain of the op, the hospital food and just generally trying to recover, I did not gain weight.

My body lift surgeon said he did not want me reacting to the anaesthesia and not be able to throw up if I needed to, so he wanted me unfilled. Plus he wanted me to be able to eat, as he thought that it facilitated healing. Maybe other surgeons aren't as conservative?

How was your recovery time? Will I feel like going on my vacation (relaxing beach house), in 6 weeks?

I was pretty good six weeks out, but I have to admit, I still had a few swelling issues even then. But if all you're doing is relaxing by the beach, how could you go wrong? It sounds awesome!

I had 2cc in my 10cc band and my surgeon said it was fine. I had a circumferential body lift and 16.3 pounds of skin removed.

I heard five mins before my TT surgery that the surgeon was not going to unfill me. This terrified me at the time as I had always been led to believe that it was necessary. The surgeon assured me that it wasnt and that they could use a different anasthetic that would not cause sickness. He was right. I had no problems at all. Slight constriction for a couple of days but that was all. It was great not to have to go through the refill process as I had been at a stable weight for 2 years with no need for any refills.

My very close friend had a hystorectomy. Her Dr said she did not have to get an unfill. She did not do so. Then she woke and had a reaction to the sedation. She vomitted for several hours. It caused a major band slip. She now has to get it repaired but insurance is not covering it. She has gained 30 lbs back. After her story I would recommend an unfill for any proceedure. You never know and dont want to ruin your progress.

I am going to ask for an unfill prior to my panniculectomy. I still have problems with vomitting and do not want to take ANY chance of busting out any stitches or anything to mess up my healing.

I've been put under for several surgeries and NEVER had Ny probldms with vomiting or nausea so I am not going to be unfilled. I'll be having a tt and br.

I decided to get loosened for my brachioplasty. I am super tight right now & I'm worried if I wake up even tighter that I won't be able to keep down my meds. I am having my antibiotic & pain med be filled in liquid form just to make sure I'm able to get them down. I would rather have a slight unfill than end up in the hospital with dehydration or uncontrollable pain.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
