I was unfilled last year from 8 cc to 6.6 cc in my 10 cc band, because I became pregnant.

I went in yesterday for my first fill in almost two years. I have a MAJOR slip. It almost looked like a mushroom, lapped over the band.

They said it is repairable with 2 weeks liquids and 1 week mushies. Has this happened to anyone? I need some support!

I feel so sad and defeated!

I'm not banded yet so I can't say I know how you feel, but don't give up. Remember, it can be repaired! I know it feels like a setback, but don't let it discourage you too much. Recently I heard a man say something along the lines of, "You're not defeated when you fall down, you're only defeated if you don't get back up."

Sending you love and hugs and prayers! :)

Love that quote about being defeated. So true.

I was diagnosed with a slip and waited almost two years before having revision surgery. I don't know, I guess I hoped it would fix itself?

I have to say, even though I'm just five days out from revision surgery, having my band fixed is amazing. I feel so much better and eating goes SO much more smoothly.

Don't hesitate with that slipped band, have it fixed. You will be happy you did.

I have read that a slight slip may repair its self with a start over diet following one like after surgery. Going through the stages. I would try it if dr advises it's easier than a revision.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
