Calorie Intake?

One thing I do suggest is make sure to get blood work done some months after surgery, I was depleted of Vita D and the rest was good. No vita D and you cant get out of bed... be tired and weak/// we are not eating what our bodies are used to,,, so check that blood work.

I stick to around 600 calories per day. I loose about 10 lbs a month that way. I usually start my day off with a smoothie & nipple the rest of the day.

Hi Everyone. I'm 3 weeks post op tomorrow and have lost a total of 16lb(9lb was pre-op). This last week I have stayed pretty much the same ( I weigh daily for the guide) but feel the scales will show a bit of a loss tomorrow. Some days I can stick to 800 cals and feel really positive but other days I could eat the equivilent of a 3 course evening meal! I've not oftenbeen feeling that full sensation at the back of my throat and have been trying to have a small evening meal but found I'm then in and out the kitchen having a bit of this then back for that. It's almost like I'm pushing myself to try and feel full. It is my time of the month tho :(

Today I had only a cup of tea before work( bearing in mind I ate loads last night, even in bed) and arrived at a meeting with little time to eat lunch before the speaker began. The softest thing I could see was a chicken and chorizo casserole(creamy sauce) and i had 2 spoons of cous cous. I tried to shred the chicken with my fork( I'm still on mushies officially) and had only one tiny piece of chorizo (it was a little spicy). I had to eat fast and tried to chew chew chew but managed about 1/4 of a plateful in total and got that full feeling. I hadn't had it for days and days!!

Not feeling particularly hungry but aware I hadnt had many calories, for my evening meal I had 1/2 small tin of sardines for tea and slowly followed this with a small baked potato(no skin). My total calories so far today are under 550. I don't feel I'll have more than 100cals tonight and am almost buzzing that I'm not in and out the cupboard.

I have 4mls put in my 10ml band at time of surgery and have an appts for 2 fills in May.

My dietician says 1000cals is a guide only, we all need different amounts. She told me not to focus on the amount of calories but a loss of 1-2lb per week is good. I've been told not to exercise until I'm 4weeks post-op but have bought a treadmill and from tonight will be just walking for 20mins if I don't walk to work.

It had suited me to have a Protein Shake for Breakfast and a cup a Soup or other soup for lunch with something like poached salmon, mashed potato and mushy peas for dinner but after today It was a relief not to be raiding the cupboards si I'm going to eat more than soup for lunch tomorrow and see if I have another good day.x

my EAS Protein shakes are only 110 calories with 17 g of Protein - i have at least one per day - some days two. I can't do salad anymore - i am religious about counting every calorie and do stick to the 800 calories around 90% of the time - of course there are those once in a while days where i eat an entire small popcorn with layered butter at the movies but that's for another day LOL

How could two shakes and a salad be over 800? Are you using full fat dressings? Lots of cheese and meat toppings? I think most of my salads are under 200 cals. Most veggies are practically nothing. Paul Newman's Light dressings are great and low cal.

My doctor recommends between 1200-1500 calories for women. Along with 60 minutes of exercise 5 days weekly (which creates a calorie deficit of between 300-500 calories). For me I really started loosing weight more consistently once I was eating at least 1200 calories and combining with the exercise. Many days I eat close to the 1500 and I am easily loosing 2 lbs per week. I do think it is interesting that when I was on the liquid diet post op (only getting around 600 calories per day) and then I progressed to real food and the higher calories that my weight loss stalled for about 2 weeks. Once my body got used to the 1200-1500 calories again I continued on my journey of weight loss.

All that said it is different for every person, but just remember that you want this to be something you can sustain for a long period of time. I would talk to your doctor and see what he or she recommends. :D

The shakes are 342 each.

And salad with chicken is over 250 with out dressing and cheese

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
